Just BE Sound and Movement Therapy is run by Alison Heaslewood who has received training in Sound and Movement Therapy from the British Academy of Sound Therapy. With five years vocal training she enjoys bringing soothing vocals into her sound sessions along with other percussion. She creates nurturing and relaxing spaces for anyone seeking out a space to Just BE. Alison also co-hosts Mantra Meditations and retreats with Monica from Luna Sound and Energy, under their joint name The Berkshire Sound Therapists. Following a five year episode of chronic pain in her twenties and a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, Alison turned to alternative methods of healing, including Sound Therapy. Along with sound, movement was instrumental in her full recovery and as well as offering sound journeys, she holds separate sessions to weave sound and movement together.

Our Friday Ecstatic Dances in Crowthorne, Berkshire are the place for you if…
🌟 You have a pulse and are over 18
🌟 You’re able to step in, without drugs or alcohol
🌟 You’re seeking your tribe or a safe space to be you
🌟 You want to try some intuitive conscious movement
🌟 You can agree to ‘no chatting’ in our sacred space
🌟 You’re curious about new levels of freedom & joy!

This is not a dance class. Every week is different, with a different theme and different types of music. Our collective energy co-creates a unique journey every week, and no experience is necessary to join us on these journeys! The music begins gently, and rises and falls through one or two waves. We close with a mini sound bath, fruit and a little time to connect if you choose to.

We can learn so much from the way dogs love and accept us unconditionally. And with Ecstatic Dance/ Conscious Dance spaces, I’ve found them to be some of the most safe and accepting places I’ve ever been to.
We get to be ourselves, express our emotions and move without fear of how we may look to others, because we know, no one’s watching!
When I look out on a Friday night and see our lovely dance community, so free and unmasked… my heart fills with joy. It’s becoming more acceptable to bounce around sober, but isn’t it crazy that we ever thought we needed to hide ourselves in the first place? That so many of us back then, and even now… feel the need to drink or take substances in order to actually Just BE?
I hope if you step onto our dancefloor, or into another sober space, you realise you don’t need to hide anymore. You’re welcome exactly as you are. A unique being. A shining light. You matter. And that calling you feel to come back to who you truly are… that’s real. ❤️

I’ve been thinking a lot about Costa Rica lately. And then I hear this as I wander through the jungles of with the birds making the most wonderful sounds. What a delight to hear them. So bold and not afraid to be heard.

Do you know how healing hugs really are?
Even Sweet Potatoes Love
The duration of a hug significantly influences its impact on our health. A mere 10-second hug can help the body fight infections, ease depression, and reduce fatigue. Extend that to a 20-second hug, and the benefits extend to reducing the harmful effects of stress, relieving blood pressure, and promoting a healthy heart. Increasing the frequency of hugs leads to a cascade of positive outcomes, including reduced blood pressure, decreased cortisol levels, improved healing, diminished cravings, and enhanced immunity - bcop.org.uk
Good job we’re such big huggers at our dances!

Over the course of a year doing my Sound Therapy training with The British Academy of Sound Therapy, there were many invitations to explore resonances and resistances in every day life. Nature Sound Therapy was a regular feature in my coursework reflections… As I paused to listen to the soothing sounds of raindrops landing on the lake yesterday, watching them splash into ripples and disappear… I felt so held by nature. So supported, so calm. And so connected… because of course, I am. We all are.

When your friends know your spirit animal. ❤️
Once, after an Ecstatic Dance in , I was told there’d been a rainbow coloured dragon laying at my feet while I was singing. And after another sound bath, I was told there was a dragon stood either side of me on a lake, offering protection, and that I’d once been a dragon priestess.
I often sense dragon energy, but it feels more internal to me, and I’ve come to know it as a protector part. The part that experiences rage and injustice. The part that wants to protect my inner child. Through meditation, plant medicine and breathwork, I’ve journeyed into the depths of my being with this dragon part, and after much integration work, it’s now known as - Baby Dragon 🐉 My protector, my friend.

Not only is an awesome Ecstatic Dance DJ and Sound Therapist, he makes amazing beach mandalas! Had so much fun making this last year in Costa Rica. Making beauty from beauty. Ease My Art .Com writes - ‘Mandala Art is a spiritual and symbolic art form that represents wholeness, balance, and harmony. The word “mandala” comes from the ancient Sanskrit language, where it means “circle” or “center.” This simple shape holds deep meaning across various cultures and belief systems.’
Next time you go to a beach… give it a try!
