This is my go-to meditation when I can't get out of my own head. With practice it's made me become more aware of my own thoughts and thought patterns, and helps to put my thoughts back into perspective.

Thinking is of course what our minds do, and is hugely beneficial, but overthinking brings increased levels of stress and when we get ourselves stuck in this kind of head space it can start to really suck the enjoyment out of life.

This simple technique teaches us to become more aware of our thoughts, bringing us out of our heads and back into the present moment.

So when you're next in an over-think-a-thon give this meditation a try and see if it helps.

New on my YouTube channel 🥳 Yoga to support lower back pain. A super gentle core strengthening class to support you if you're a regular sufferer of lower back pain.

We target the deep core muscles with simple strengthening exercises including the pelvic floor, abdominals, glutes, obliques and back muscles.

These exercises can help improve your posture, balance and help alleviate lower back pain.

Back pain is caused by loads of different reasons so this isn't a miracle cure for everyone, and might not be suitable depending on the cause of your lower back pain.

However, movement, gentle strengthening and gentle stretching are pretty much universally good for everyone (whether you suffer from back pain or not). So give it a go and see how you get on. If you experience pain or serious discomfort there's no need to continue.

And as always - rest when you want to, and adapt/adjust what you need to! 🧡

For me, cold weather always = a stiff, achy lower back.

So I've put together a slow, simple and super gentle class specifically for relieving lower back pain. Where we focus on gentle movement and releasing the tension and frustration that tends to come along with pain.

Have trouble getting to sleep? Try adding this to your evening routine to unwind and sleep like a baby 😴

While scrolling social media and watching Netflix might seem relaxing, they actually keep us stimulated - the opposite of what you want at bedtime!

Gentle movement (like the ones in this video) help to properly relax the body. Shifting you from feeling alert and/or restless to calm and ready to rest. Helping you to fall asleep more easily and have a deeper sleep once you're there.

These are sped up, so try moving slowly and ,if it feels ok, you can try syncing your breath with the movements. Slower, deeper breathing signals to the body that it is safe to rest.

Have you ever tried to meditate but felt like you didn't really know what you were supposed to be doing??

Me too... 🤣

But once I learned how to meditate properly, I quickly learnt that it was an absolute game-changer for my mental health!

It gives my chronically-busy mind time to relax and along with that I feel the tension in my body start to melt away too. My mediation practice is 100% the most impactful and important part of my day.

And you know what else is so great about it?

Anyone can do it.

You don't need props, you don't need space to move around. All you need is a little bit of time and somewhere to sit (or lie down if you prefer).

So this week's YouTube video is dedicated to all you wanna-be meditators out there! I guide you through a simple, beginner-friendly meditation and give you some top-tips for a successful practice.

Around this time of year, as the days gradually get shorter and the weather gets colder, I notice that I naturally want to slow down.

Some sad news...

My final classes at Westmorland Park will be this Monday, 26th June.

A huge, huge thank you to everyone that has come along and practised with me there. It's been an absolute pleasure spending my Monday evenings with you over the last year and a bit!

I'm off travelling for a while but hope to continue teaching wherever and whenever I can. So do keep an eye out for new classes and workshops from me in the future!
