A few highlights from this week!
Phil was the winner of our biscuit dunking competition and quiz!
Maria is now an official dunker (we had to show her the British dunking tradition)
Singing with the church and painting in the garden. Toddler group was a big hit and we also welcomed back two of our amazing carers Jasmine who has just finished her maternity leave and Hollie with baby Freddie who is two weeks old ( his officially the youngest member of the Bickerton family) 👶 ❤️.

Staff appreciation week 2026!
Monday was a visit from the ice cream van, Tuesday a very relaxing yoga session hosted by Maria from our admin team, Wednesday was pizza delivery with a special night time pizza delivery for our night team whilst heads of department held the fort so they could all eat together, Thursday was a culture food afternoon where everyone brought their home cooked food and finished off tonight with a whole home staff BBQ. Our staff are appreciated every single day of the year though not just this week and we are very grateful for all they do day in, day out.

Today is National pet therapy day!
We recognise the affect that animals have on people especially those living with dementia. The touch or presence of an animal can bring so many emotion’s and responses that we can alone can not otherwise achieve. We celebrate Pet therapy every day as it brings the most meaningful joy to everyone 🐑 we would like to thank with all our hearts Browells pet therapy for all the moments that have created in Bickerton house, what you do is beyond amazing. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future ❤️.

John and Violets wish ⭐
John wanted to visit RHS Wisley as he had never had the chance to go before but had heard wonderful tales about it and Violet loves flowers. We had the most amazing day in beautiful sunshine and wow what a truly beautiful place. If you haven’t been you should visit. So peaceful. John and Violet both agreed it was a great wish ❤️

Irene’s wish ⭐
When asked about her wish Rene said she would love to have a movie night and get a curry just like she used to do at home. The chosen movie was “some like it hot”. If you haven’t watched it give it a try it’s very funny. As soon as she was asked she knew the exact order for the curry and we joined her for a girls pj night. We had the most amazing girly night in our cinema room and we are so privileged that we got to share this special night with Rene for her wish ⭐

Hollie who is a carer at Bickerton went on maternity leave last month. We have recieved news she’s had a beautiful baby boy named Freddie. Congratulations Hollie and family, we can’t wait for cuddles when your ready 👶

On 23rd May over 15 staff, family and volunteers from Bickerton House will be walking 15 miles around bracknell passing by Swinley forest, Mill pond and Wildmoor heath to raise much needed funds for Dementia UK. Please help us to reach our target and cheer us on, this is a cause very close to a lot of our hearts and we will always keep striving to help in any way we can together as the Bickerton family ❤️

With the weather a bit better this week we have had a couple of lovely trips out. Betty and Julia had a lovely stroll round oaktree garden centre and a cuppa. Jack and Dave helped us at the DIY shop to choose paint for another project as Dave used to be a painter and decorator so we needed his advice and we finished with a coffee at Morrisons. Thoroughly enjoyed by all 😃

We are very lucky to have an extremely multi talented lady on our activities team. Wendy drew this amazing picture by hand for our Deers suite to represent an activity we held between the residents and their penpals from wooden hill primary school. It was to represent the advice and communication that Intergenerational activities create, where the older generation pass on their knowledge and wisdom to the children. Thankyou Wendy for creating this work of art. There is no end to your talents ❤️

What an experience. We have been patiently waiting for our little chicks to hatch all day. It’s brought conversations and smiles at the anticipation. Won’t be long now ❤️
