Nothing in our lives is more important than our health & the more we ignore it, the greater the risks.

Having the NHS Health Check when we’re invited by our GP practice can spot problems early enough for them to be successfully treated. Ignoring the opportunity could allow a minor health problem to become a major one.

NHS Health Check invitations are sent out by GP practices to eligible patients in the 40–74 age group.

Some great news for the Sandhurst Happiness Hub drop in! 💛

From March, the BFC Autism Team will be leading the session to create a sensory-friendly drop-in, offering a calmer and more supportive environment for those who may benefit from it.

It’s a great opportunity to pop along, have a chat, and find out more about the mental health and wellbeing support available across Bracknell Forest.

This drop in is free to attend and takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at Sandhurst library.

Our bodies experience a lot of wear & tear over a lifetime & problems can arise at any time, so regular check-ups are important to keep us on the right road. GP practices start sending invitations for NHS Health Checks to eligible patients after the age of 40. Please don’t ignore it.

We are supporting the Lyla’s Law campaign, which aims to prevent missed or delayed diagnoses of Type 1 Diabetes in children. Too many families have shared experiences where symptoms were overlooked, leading to children becoming seriously unwell with Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA). Early testing is vital, and a simple urine dip test or blood glucose check can save a child’s life.

Please take a moment to read and share the 4T’s poster below. Increased awareness among parents, schools, carers and health professionals is essential to ensure children showing symptoms are tested as soon as possible.

Amber Cold-Health Alert in place ❄️

An Amber Cold-Health Alert has been issued for our area from 8pm today until 10am on Tuesday, 6 January due to very cold weather.

Cold weather can affect anyone, but older adults, young children, pregnant women, and people with long-term health conditions are at greater risk.

Please take extra care and follow these simple steps to stay warm and well:

• Heat rooms you use most to around 18°C, if you can
• Wear several layers of clothing to keep warm
• Reduce draughts and keep windows closed at night
• Make sure you have enough food and medication
• Check in on vulnerable neighbours, friends, and family

If you are feeling unwell or worried about your health, contact your pharmacist, GP, or NHS 111. In an emergency, call 999.

For more advice on staying safe and well in cold weather, visit the link in the comments.
