As we enter the third heatwave of the summer, high temperatures are here to stay!🌡️

An Amber Heat-Health Alert is in place from 12pm Friday, 11 July to 9am Monday, 14 July across our area.

Please take extra care, especially if you're elderly, have young children, or live with a long-term health condition.

Here are some simple ways to stay safe in the heat:

Keep your home cool, close sun-facing windows and curtains
Stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm
Wear light, loose clothing, a hat and sunglasses
Apply sunscreen regularly
Plan outdoor activities (like walking the dog or exercising) for cooler times - early morning or evening
Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke

Let’s all look out for ourselves and each other, check in on neighbours, family, and friends.

Whether it's a quick pint after work or toasting a leaving do, alcohol often feels part of the job. But should it be?

Alcohol awareness week is a great time to reflect on how we celebrate and connect at work.

There is an Amber heat health alert in place until 6pm Tuesday, 1 July.

Please take care in this weather. If you are visiting our parks and countryside:

• Seek shady spots under cooling trees
• Carry water for hydration for you and your dog – there’s a cold water tap for dogs at Lily Hill Park
• Wear sunglasses, sun hat and factor 30 sunscreen
• Wear light-coloured clothes to reflect heat and help you spot ticks
• Don’t go out when the sun is strongest between 11am-3pm
• Don’t jump into the water – you don’t know what’s lurking beneath the surface

For more sun safety tips see the first comment.
