Ever wondered why the more you do for someone, the less you feel appreciated?
It’s not always about them, it’s about the energy exchange.
When we give and give without boundaries, it can lead to an imbalance. Energy needs to flow, and if you’re constantly giving but not receiving in return, it can feel draining and unappreciated. You might find yourself feeling empty, exhausted, and like your efforts are being taken for granted.
Some people might not even realize they’re doing it, but they’re often drawing energy from those around them without realizing the imbalance they’re creating. This can be because of emotional dependency, a lack of self-awareness, or just not knowing how to give back in a healthy way. When this happens, it can feel like they are constantly "taking" without offering anything in return emotionally, energetically, or even in terms of respect and appreciation.
This doesn’t make them bad people. They may simply not understand how energy works in relationships, or they’ve never learned how to maintain balance in their own energy. But if you're always the one giving, you will eventually feel drained, unappreciated, and even resentful.
Here’s the truth: Boundaries are key. Giving is beautiful, but you can’t pour from an empty cup. When the flow of energy is healthy when both sides give and receive that’s when true connection and appreciation happen. It’s not selfish to protect your energy; it’s necessary for your own well-being.
If you're feeling drained, ask yourself: Are you giving without receiving? Are your boundaries clear?
You don’t have to do it all alone. And you certainly don’t need to give endlessly without receiving the same care in return.
Remember: You are worthy of equal energy exchange. Honour your energy, protect your boundaries, and trust that true appreciation will flow when the balance is right.
