Today some remarkable things happened. Marry's owner came to take him away as he desperately needed him for work. We quietly explained that this was not possible to do at the moment as he is not ready for work . We all sat down and calmly discussed the situation. He had purchased the horse in this condition 2 months ago from a dealer. I asked why he called him Marry and he explained he had named him after a very special donkey he once had and clearly was very fond of. I suggested that Marry really needed to be a pensioner and he agreed. As we spoke, far from the "baddie" I had conjured up in my head, I found I was speaking to a quiet and humble young man who is desperately in need of financial support. He works with young footballers and trains them and proudly showed me all his team photos. We hatched a mutually beneficial plan. For a very small amount of money, Marry became the property of GHDT. Bubacarr loves animals a lot and thought he could save Marry but found he could not afford it but he would love to learn more, so he will come and work with us part time and train part time. He will also be our Ambassador in the areas he works and report any sick animals to us.
He wanted to name his " football acadamy" after us but I suggested that we named it after Marry as he was the catalyst for us meeting.
If anyone has any football shirts , balls, or cones for under 8's and under 15's they could send for the Marry Footbal Academy we will make sure they are delivered. Today has been a win win situation. It is wonderful what can be achieved through listening to each others point of view.
Please send any football kit to
GHDT, Brewery Arms Cottage, Stane Street, Ockley, Surrey RH5 5TH thank you.
