National Storytelling Week was created by the Society for Storytelling. This fantastic annual event is a joyful celebration of the power of sharing stories.

We were due to have the wonderful children from Leigh Cottage Childcare for a special reading with our residents. Unfortunately, due to some winter bugs going around for the kids, they weren't able to. So, instead, we popped in with some nursery books, alphabet books and more to gift the kids so they can keep enjoying stories! πŸ“šπŸ–‹οΈ

Trips and excursions are important for residents' social, physical, and emotional wellbeing.

Whether it’s a weekly coffee in the local garden centre or a day trip to the beach, these trips are a great way to nurture residents' mental and physical health.

Pictured here are the fabulous ladies who make all of this possible! They work really hard to make sure trips are fun, varied and safe.

Thank you!

Yesterday we celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the amazing guests who walk through our doors and brighten our days in the most unexpected ways πŸ’›

Your smiles, kind words, patience and thoughtful notes never go unnoticed. It’s the small, random acts of kindness that truly make the biggest difference β€” and we are so grateful for each and every one of you.

Thank you for reminding us that kindness is powerful, contagious, and always in style ✨We really enjoyed our party to giveback to our residents, staff and the local community with gifts, cards and affirmation cards for all.

Let’s keep spreading kindness everywhere we go! πŸ’•

We are celebrating Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday!

Our wonderful chef prepared delicious pancakes with plenty of toppings before our Activities Coordinator, Katie led a talk all about the history of pancake day.

Pancake day is the day preceding Lent and was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients. Anglo-Saxon Christians went to confession and were β€œshriven” (absolved from their sins). A bell would be rung to call people to confession. This came to be called the β€œPancake Bell” and is still rung today.

Meet The Team Tuesday! πŸ‘‹

This is Vickie, a very experienced Team Leader who has worked in care for over 10 years. However, funnily enough, Vickie originally trained in culinary skills and worked hard to take on the role of Head Chef in a school!

Vickie was always interested in care, and when she decided to take the leap, she loved the fulfilment of building relationships with residents and seeing them happy
😊
In her own time, Vickie can be found snuggled on the sofa with her two lurchers, Cardie and Marlie πŸΎπŸ’—
