Before and after photographs of a client who came to me recently wanting a mole remove. All lesions are checked prior to removal to ensure they are safe to treat.

Unfortunately skin lesions are no longer removed on the NHS. For some individuals this can be quite problematic and can a a huge impact on their emotional well-being and self confidence. I know what a difference it can make to how we feel about ourselves having a mole, skin tag or age spot removed. I see this time and time again with clients I have been fortunate to treat.

This client came to see me in January as he wanted some Seborrheic warts removed. He was very self conscious of them and came for a Consultation. They were examined by a doctor initially and he was reassured they were benign, meaning non cancerous. After a few treatments you can see they have completely gone.

What are seborrhoeic keratoses?

Seborrhoeic keratoses (SK) are also known as seborrhoeic warts and basal cell papillomas. They are benign growths caused by a build-up of skin cells. SK are very common, harmless, often brown/black, growths on the skin. In the UK more than half the men and more than a third of women have at least one SK. By the age of 40, 30% of the population are affected while by the age of 70 it increases to 75%. They are also found in younger people. The number of SK varies from person to person.

How are seborrhoeic keratoses diagnosed?

SK are much more common than skin cancers; however, a very dark seborrhoeic keratosis can look similar to a melanoma. It is therefore important that either a general practitioner or specialist checks any changing brown/black lesions to ensure they are a SK.

SK can become a worry if they are red, itchy, sore or bleeding. If there is any doubt, a skin biopsy can be done.

How can seborrhoeic keratoses be treated?

Treatments for SK are not funded by the NHS. SK do not need treatment as they are harmless and cause no symptoms; however, for those who wish to have them removed (usually in the private sector) options include freezing them with liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy), laser, or scraping them off (curettage) under a local anaesthetic.

Swedish massage wasn’t always called Swedish massage. First, it was called Swedish gymnastics, which was developed by Henrik Ling—a Swede from Stockholm.
Ling is considered the Father of Swedish massage because he created a system of physical rehabilitation by combining his knowledge of gymnastics and physiology from Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman cultures.
wedish massage helps reduce cortisol levels which is the stress hormone. It does this by the relaxing effect the massaging strokes have on the body. The calming environment also contributes to this. Swedish massage also increases dopamine and serotonin levels which improve ones mood.
Why not take a little time out for yourself. Mindfulness has never been so important to us than it is now to enable us to participate in little slices of calm to help us manage our lives in a more positive way.

This client came to me wanting some moles removed because he felt self conscious about them. All moles were checked prior to treatment to ensure it was safe to remove them. This is a photo of a mole that was removed from his back. This was removed using cryotherapy, no scar, no surgical incision, minimal risk of infection. In time the area treated will become paler. A very happy client. How can I prevent dry feet and cracked heels?

– Moisturising your feet at least daily, preferably twice per day, morning and night. Your cream will absorb best right after a hot shower, so make sure to keep your heel cream on your vanity so you remember

– Make sure your heel balm contains urea, as it is proven to help you get better results faster

– Wear socks at night to lock in the moisture from your cream that you apply before bed

🌿Should I consider B12 injections?🌿

filler, so I just added the smallest amount to plump not to define.

🌿This lovely client came to see me as she was unhappy with her the way her skin looked. She felt it looked dull and didn’t know what to do or how to approach treatment for her lines which were static. She wasn’t the ideal candidate for anti wrinkle injections and she didn’t really want them. She had had filler over 10 years ago and was open minded about that. We had a lengthy and thorough consultation and she put her trust in me, which I am grateful for. We decided to start a skin boosting treatment, which consisted of a full face treatment and targeting the delicate eye area. We are still following the treatment plan for her and it is true to say she is delighted with the results so far. As am I. 🌿So I thought I would do a quick follow up from a client I treated before Christmas last year. She came to me after seeing a Consultant Dermatologist regarding her Seborrheic Keratosis, which had been confirmed as benign. She was offered the option of surgery privately, but declined as this was very expensive and she didn’t want to be left with a large scar. We had a thorough and lengthy consultation and began the treatment of removing the lesion. This was done using a combination of Electrocautery and cryotherapy. The photo next to the lesion showing it beforehand was a few weeks post treatment, the skin is still healing and you can see it is still pink. The photograph below was taken a few months later and it really is hard to see where the lesion was. My client was so delighted with the results as she was able to avoid what would have been a large scar.

🌿This lovely client came to me for a consultation regarding removal of a fibroma. After a thorough consultation, we removed this benign lesion. There was a short period of downtime with no complications and no scar. In fact during the consultation and follow up post treatment you cannot see where the lesion had been.
🌿 Fibromas are Benign Tumours or Growth of the skin made of a mix of cells called Dermal Fibroblasts and Histiocytes. They also contain blood vessels and it is said that they are caused by minor injury or insect bites. They are usually Pink or Brown little bumps. They can occur anywhere on the body, however they are more common on legs, arms and face.
🌿These lesions have been commonly removed by surgical incision, which can carry the risk of infection and scaring. Removing benign lesion with Electrocautery and cryotherapy is safe and effective. The results speak for themselves.
