This can be a really difficult one and no one really feels this everyday.

During difficult times our mind tries to find comfort by blaming others, by finding someone to hold responsible for our unhappiness. It can be easy to build resentment towards people, a boss, work colleagues, friends, family members. And although there can be validity in our negative feelings towards others, yoga teaches us to have accountability for ourselves.

We are in control of how we respond to situations, our emotions do not control us nor do they define us. And though we can feel trapped and overwhelmed by negativity at times, through the practice of yoga we gain the strength to find acceptance for where we are or to take action to change our situation. We slowly start to remove the negativity we project on others and focus on our inner self.

When we find ourselves falling back into negative patterns, yoga gives us the space to find clarity, gratitude and peace.

🧘‍♂️The fear of change can be overwhelming. We get comfortable in the routines of our daily life, finding contentment in the safety and security of what is certain.

But sometimes we feel restless with the life we’ve built, feeling the need for adventure, a craving for the unknown.

Yoga teaches us to accept and be grateful for what we have but to look inward and challenge our own perceptions. We find comfort in knowing what is meant to be, will be, but also knowing that we can strive for more, to become our most true and authentic self.

The practice of yoga gives us the time and space to explore who we are, what we want and what we can be. We find the courage to let go of resistance and live authentically🙏

✨I’ve heard it said that you are made up of the 5 people you spend the most time with, and I’ve found this to be true. As I’ve moved through different jobs, different countries, let go of old connections and made new ones, I’ve found myself change, sometimes for the better, sometimes not.

We may find ourselves looking back longingly at past times in our lives where we felt included, accepted and safe. We mourn our long-distance friendships, for relationships that have fizzled out. But we have more control over our present being than we realise.

The people who you surround yourself with shape who you are and when you put your true, authentic self out into the word, you attract true, authentic relationships back.

Having the courage to put your true self out there is an ongoing challenge, but through our yoga practice we find confidence for who we are. We learn that the people who are meant to be in our lives will be there and that it’s okay to let go of the ones who are not✨

Yoga is not simply a physical practice. Yoga is a practice for our mental, emotional and spiritual being. Yoga gives us the tools to find safety and protection within ourselves and to help others find safety and protection within themselves☀️

We start every class with pranayama, breath practice. Simple breathing practice brings us into the present moment whilst settling the mind and calming the nervous system.

When you are new to yoga, breath is often a difficult aspect to manage. Although I give cues for the breath, I tell my students to breathe in a way that feels right for them. Only you know what is right for your body and your practice should be focused completely on you 🧘‍♀️
