This day was originally started in 2014 by a collective of pans*xual individuals, activists, and allies, the aim was to bring greater attention to the pans*xual community and the issues they encounter. Since then, it has grown into a wider celebration of pans*xual identity, serving as both an educational platform and an opportunity to uplift and empower pans*xual individuals around the world.
- Pans*xual individuals are s*xually attracted to other people regardless of their gender or biological s*x. Pans*xual differs from bis*xual as bis*xual people are attracted to more than one gender – for example they may be attracted to their own gender and other genders. For pans*xual individuals’ gender doesn’t really matter.
- Panromantic people are romantically – but not necessarily s*xually – attracted to others regardless of their gender or biological s*x.
The 24th of May is dedicated to recognising, celebrating, and honouring the experiences of individuals who identify as pans*xual and panromantic. The day was established to affirm the existence of pans*xual people across the globe and to raise awareness of pans*xuality and the unique challenges faced by the pans*xual community.

Since 2017, this day aims to raise awareness of agender people. It was established as an opportunity for agender individuals to embrace and celebrate their identity, while also acknowledging the unique challenges they face in a world that has historically viewed gender through a strictly binary lens.
Agender individuals do not identify themselves as any particular gender and it falls within the non-binary spectrum. They may be more comfortable with the terms genderblank, genderfree, genderless, gendervoid, non-gendered, ungendered, or null gender. Agender people, like other LGBTQ+ individuals, face many challenges, from discrimination to lack of visibility. This is why, as a service, we want to celebrate and share our support the agender community. The day stands as a celebration of the rich diversity of gender identities and serves as a reminder of the importance of building safe, inclusive spaces that welcome and affirm all genders.

Hi, my name is Denise Mckenzie and I have worked in Admin for about 1 and a half years now making appts/cancelling appts etc. Before that I worked 25 years in Incommunities (housing), 3 years at a legal firm in Leeds and 3 years at BRI doing a variety of jobs such as the busy reception, PALS office taking complaints and a stint in the Bereavement office. I have 2 grown up daughters and 4 granddaughters ages 11 to 18. I don’t seem to babysit much these days.
My hobbies are reading, playing games on my phone, going to the pub with a few friends and going on beach holidays (fave place is Santorini). I love animals and used to have 2 dogs who have sadly died now. Not getting another until I stop going abroad coz I don’t like leaving them in kennels. I suppose I am a little eccentric as I have 3 pet tree frogs which are very easy to look after and are so cute. Not everybody’s cup of tea. Would also love a jumping spider but my daughter will refuse to visit if I get one.

The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia was founded in 2004 to highlight the violence and discrimination experienced by le***an, gay, bis*xual, trans, inters*x people, and all of those with diverse s*xual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and s*x characteristics.
This date was chosen as it commemorates the date of the decision to remove homos*xuality from classification as a mental illness by the World Health Organisation in 1990. The main purpose of the day is to raise awareness of ongoing difficulties experienced.
The theme for 2026 is: "At the heart of democracy," focusing on the need for inclusive societies where LGBTQIA+ people can live without fear. Protecting LGBTQIA+ rights is crucial for maintaining healthy, equitable democracies.

The theme of mental health awareness week this year is Action because, while awareness is vital, real change comes when we take action too.

Together, we’ve come a long way on mental health, but we can’t risk going backwards. There’s still much we can do to prevent people becoming unwell in the first place.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, find your one thing to boost your mental health. Choose one positive action that works for you.
