Your mental health matters just as much as your physical health. Take a moment today to breathe, hydrate, stretch, and speak kindly to yourself. Progress isn't always loud—sometimes it's simply choosing rest over hustle. 💆‍♀️💬

We all have a stress bucket. A certain amount of low-level stress can be helpful and mean we are able to work hard and focus on activities. However, experiencing stress over a period of time can make us feel overwhelmed, and can eventually lead to physical and mental health issues, such as burnout and exhaustion. Imagine a bucket which we put all our stress into - the bucket can only hold a certain amount of water before it overflows. In the same way, we only hold a certain amount of stress before we overspill. Activities that lessen our stress levels will open the tap, allowing us to cope better with stressors. How can you "open the tap", today?

At Bradford District and Craven Talking Therapies, we offer a range of different interventions to help people to learn to self-manage stress. These include our Stress and Wellbeing Management course and our specific online computerised CBT programme, Silvercloud. If you think that you would benefit from talking to someone and learning ways to cope with stress then please get in touch

Hi, my name is Sarah Ledger and I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Clinical Supervisor with Bradford District and Craven Talking Therapies. I am a member of our Perinatal Support Group and I am passionate about supporting parents with their mental health! My particular areas of interest are the treatment of Birth Trauma and the treatment of Eating Disorders. Having become a mother myself in April last year, I feel this has helped my understanding of the difficulties many mothers can experience in the transition to motherhood and how this can affect our emotional and psychological wellbeing. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my Team Ledger – my husband, son and our very spoilt Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I also love going for afternoon tea, spending time in my garden allotment and baking.

This week has been Non-Binary Week. The term non-binary refers to people who do not identify with the gender binary of male and female. Many identities fall within this umbrella term, such as genderfluid, agender, and genderqueer. Some people may identify with certain aspects about the gender binary, potentially fluctuating between the two oppositional categories. However, others may reject it completely.
While non-binary encompasses people who do not identify with the s*x they were assigned at birth, not everyone sees themselves as trans. It is also important to understand the difference between gender identity and gender expression. Simply put, gender identity is who you are, whereas gender expression is how you present yourself. You can present as masculine, feminine or androgynous. However, your appearance does not dictate your gender identity and vice versa.
Bringing awareness to non-binary people is vital to ensuring that this community is no longer overlooked. They continue to experience discrimination and invalidation. Many governments around the world still do not acknowledge the existence of people who do not conform to the binary of man and woman.
However, we are here to tell you that YOU ARE VALID. Your non-binary identity is valid, no matter what governments or other people claim.
