Since 2017, this day aims to raise awareness of agender people. It was established as an opportunity for agender individuals to embrace and celebrate their identity, while also acknowledging the unique challenges they face in a world that has historically viewed gender through a strictly binary lens.
Agender individuals do not identify themselves as any particular gender and it falls within the non-binary spectrum. They may be more comfortable with the terms genderblank, genderfree, genderless, gendervoid, non-gendered, ungendered, or null gender. Agender people, like other LGBTQ+ individuals, face many challenges, from discrimination to lack of visibility. This is why, as a service, we want to celebrate and share our support the agender community. The day stands as a celebration of the rich diversity of gender identities and serves as a reminder of the importance of building safe, inclusive spaces that welcome and affirm all genders.
