On Valentine's Day one of our gentlemen wanted to make his girlfriend a card and a present.

We assisted him to make the card and gave him the option to make a bracelet or chose one from the stock we have. He really liked one we had in stock so he chose that. He wanted to give her something else so we looked in our cupboard and we found a fluffy hot water bottle for her. He was really happy with everything he had done and the things he had for her.

She came to see him in the afternoon and they both exchanged gifts and cards. They had a lovely little catch up and held hands. She was over the moon and stayed for about an hour and they never stopped talking or holding hands.

We had a lot of fun during our Celebrating Cultures day as people were dressed up (Mel), we had some delicious Chinese food, and we had a little dragon that we called king foo young. He was in a few of the pictures and some of the residents thought he was a dog.

There was a lot of fun and laughter, some of the residents wore Mel's wig. We did have a really good day and we can't wait for the March Celebrating Cultures day.

We took 3 of our ladies out on a trip to Bolling Hall Museum. We were unable to see all of the exhibit as their lift was out of commission but we still had a fantastic morning.

All the ladies got a lovely little owl from the museum gift shop and then we went to The Lodge at Bowling Park for More...Fresh Air, it is well worth a visit.

The ladies were really happy with their food and they really liked the place, it is so cosy and the staff are amazing. Two of our ladies had a small full English breakfast and one had carrot and coriander soup. A great day had by all!

Here are some pictures that we took when making some delicious carrot cake buns with our ladies.

They helped to make and decorate them, and one of our ladies said 'Do I get to eat it now?'. They really enjoyed getting involved and really enjoyed eating them.

We had our Polish Celebrating Cultures day on Wednesday 28th of January.

We all had a lot of fun, from homemade pierogis and Polish lemonade and lots of sweet treats from Poland. One of our staff members got dressed in Polish style clothes with a flowery headband (she made the skirt herself). The residents and other staff really liked it.

We went round to the residents' rooms and let them try the food and drink, some of them wore a flowery headband and had a picture taken. We were playing Polish music as we went around and we had a few facts and interesting information about Poland to show everyone.

The families who came that day joined in as well, some of the family members were really impressed with the food, drink and the music, not to mention our lifestyle member Mel who was dressed in Polish clothes.

We had a really good day and we are looking forward to our culture day in February.

We had a wordsearch Wednesday today, we asked some of the people living with us if they wanted to do a word search as it was fun to do and gets the brain going.

The ones who wanted to take part were really happy to join in and was assisted to find the words in the grid and mark them. It was a lot of fun as when they were looking for the word, once they found it you could see the look of satisfaction on their face.

We had lots of smiles and laughter while we were trying to find them as sometimes it looks like the word is somewhere else and its not the word.

On Tuesday afternoon we had a Coca Cola float afternoon.

Those living with us were treated to a drink that they possibly had as a young child or adult.

It was either coca cola with vanilla or strawberry ice cream or lemonade with vanilla or strawberry ice cream. Everyone loved it, they were asking for seconds. It went down really well.

Think it might have to be a monthly thing as they are still talking about it.

We had a pet therapy session with our residents on Tuesday morning, she was a beautiful little dog called Lottie.

Those living with us really loved to see her and give her lots and lots of affection. She was so sweet and very loving with everyone. Some of the residents got the chance to give her a little treat.

It was such a lovely morning, the residents keep asking when she's coming again.

Today we have been doing splatter painting for More...Creativity.

We got a long box and put paper in the box and we had 5 colours of paint and they stood at the table, chose the colour they wanted and flicked the paint off of the paint brush to the paper.

They had fun doing it, one lady was using a lot of red, when questioned why she was using a lot of red she said it is red for danger then laughed.

There was lots of laughing!
