Over December we have been doing a lot of festive activities. Local school children came in to sing and do crafts with our residents for More...Creativity, we have had parties, eaten lots of goodies, and Santa came to see our residents.

Chocolate day was in full swing, we had a decorating session where residents worked with melted chocolate and decorated pancakes, as well as tasting different brands of chocolate and watching a video on how chocolate is formed. This was definitely a resident favourite as chocolate was involved.

Thank you to Thorpe primary school for inviting us to watch the school nativity and giving us a warm welcome , it was lovely to see the children dressed up , our residents favourites were Mary and the camel.

Thank you for also coming down in the afternoon to sing some carols to our residents and to also give them handmade Christmas cards , this was the best part of the day , our residents were overwhelmed with the love leaving one resident with tears of joy, in her words " oo my heart is full ".

We’re starting a wonderful project to make personal memory boxes for each of our residents – filled with items that spark joy and bring back cherished memories.

To make this happen, we need family members to bring in a box (shoebox size works perfectly!) that we can decorate and fill together.

Please bring your box in by 1st February so we can start creating these special keepsakes.

Thank you for helping us make something truly meaningful for your loved ones!

Hot chocolate day was in full swing at Howgate House today, with whipped cream and fruity flavours to build your ultimate hot chocolate.

The favourites of the day were:
Cadbury's milk chocolate.
Peppermint bark.
Galaxy pink white chocolate.

Residents enjoyed their hot chocolates as they varied their choices around flavours, sprinkles, sauce, and whipped cream.

We had a fantastic morning yesterday at a local garden centre. The lights and Christmas decorations were so beautiful, we all loved walking through them.

There was also a gentleman with his little dog, who one of our ladies took a shine to, and she got to have a little snuggle with her.

We then had a lovely festive lunch. A really good visit to the garden centre!

A massive thank you to all the friends and families who donated to our Idle Christmas light switch on tombola.

We have got a total of 110 bottles for the tombola, this is all thanks to everyone's generosity and we are really humbled with all the donations and kindness of our residents family's and friends, you are all amazing.

We celebrated Halloween at Howgate this year, and it was so much fun. From finding the little pumpkins around the building and getting a sweet treat, to dressing up and delving into the deadly goo to find a pumpkin and win a prize.

The people who live with us loved it and even though they didn't enjoy putting their hands in the goo, they liked all the prizes. The manager gave staff gifts of pens, books and sweets too.

One of the activities ladies 13 year old son came to help out too. He was a hit with the people who live with us as he has been before.

Hope this makes you smile, there was certainly a lot of smiles on the day.

At Howgate House on Diwali this year, we got a lot of different foods and sweets from India and the lifestyle team wore saris.

The people who live with us were able to try all the different foods and we had bindi's and saris for the people who live with us to try on. We had a great time!
