"I don't believe it" as Victor Meldrew might have said. We at Village Undertakers got a letter through the post this morning from Pure Cremation! It pointed out how much a traditional funeral in our area costs. Unfortunately their figures were based on their own in-house research! Clearly they hadn't looked at our prices page on www.villageundertakers.co.uk

It makes me laugh when the lady on their TV adverts says "It was such a dignified funeral" - how does she know? She wasn't there!! And then there's the guy in the bath ....

Don't be mis-led by Pure. If you really want a Direct Cremation - talk to your family first, see if they agree - then call Village Undertakers who will offer you a better and local service at a much more affordable price than Pure. With a huge increase nationally in the number of people opting for Direct Cremation, we offer a local personal alternative.

We also recognise that many people who choose a no-service, no-fuss option for their loved one, often later regret not having a service or event to mark the end of a life.

With this in mind we're pleased to be able to offer Direct Cremation PLUS.

Robert Waddington's Village Undertakers are working alongside The Malt Shovel Harden to offer a venue for a Celebration of Life event linked to a Direct Cremation.

With a capacity of 50+ it is an ideal venue to meet to remember your loved one, create your own personal farewell, with or without the closed coffin being present.

All the features of our Penyghent Direct Cremation remain (see our website), PLUS we liaise with The Malt Shovel, embalm the body (if required), transport the closed coffin to and from The Malt Shovel, cover the cost of the venue, and include a complimentary floral arrangement.
Our price: £1950

A range of buffet options are available and are charged separately. If catering is required from The Malt Shovel team, and is booked in advance, deduct £100 from our price above.
