Some ancient Ilkley stones bothered Orangeblossom Old Ways 🤩

On Saturday Luna and I visited the wonderful Ilkley Manor House where the original Verbeia stone is. During the Roman occupation of Ilkley an altar was erected to Verbeia~ Goddess of the River Wharf.

The story of the Verbeia stone has been lost to history but is the only evidence we have for the Roman name for the Wharf, the Roman unit based here and its commander. It is speculated that maybe he was saved from drowning and set up the altar in gratitude...

The Altar Stone would have been used for Libations ~ liquid offerings to the Goddess Verbeia.

🎉🎉🎉ONLY ONE WEEK TO GO until Ilkley Healing Alternatives Festival - Autumn 2025. We’ll be at The King’s Hall & Winter Garden Ilkley 6th & 7th Sept and WOW have we got a weekend for you.
Beginning with a procession down to The King’s Hall from The Cow and Calf Rocks on Friday evening 5th September with Orangeblossom Old Ways we’ll be meeting at 6.30pm. This will include drumming and song connecting to the ancient wisdom of the landscape. This event is free to join and all are welcome. 😊
Saturday sees our inaugural extended SPOTLIGHT WORKSHOP hosted by Edwin Courtenay - “Healing with The Hallows of Angels” This rare opportunity to work with Edwin in person is ticket only and is £12 in advance . It includes light refreshments, and free entry to the festival for the rest of Saturday!
Inside the main festival event we have many readers, psychic mediums, spiritual coaches (more to follow on this this week!) we have a fabulous array of retail: artists and makers, books, natural cleaning products and skincare, gifts, jewellery and crystals and more. Finally we have a wide range of holistic therapist waiting to speak with you, ready to offer taster treatments and explain more about their work. There are therapist offering: reiki, reflexology, Thai massage, shiatsu, acupuncture, cranial- sacral massage, myofascial release, energy healing and much more. The venue has a pop up cafe hosted by Arlo not to mention live gentle music by our friend Stiofán Ó Treabhair. It is such a beautiful weekend with a deep history. We’d love to welcome you!

☀️☀️☀️☀️Ilkley Healing Alternatives Festival returns on 6th & 7th Sept to The Kings Hall and Wimter Garden. We have an amazing line up - keep an eye out over the next few days for our updates! Round off your summer with some gentle energies at the festival and enjoy a holistic therapy treatment, have a reading from one of our excellent psychics, perhaps some spiritual coaching or enjoy some of our outstanding FREE workshops or fabulous coffee. We have some amazing retail too: artist and makers, books, jewellery, natural cosmetics and skin care and so much more … it’s an amazing chilled weekend. Our friend Edwin Courtenay is going to be leading our Saturday morning SPOTLIGHT WORKSHOP this time “Healing with The Hallows of Angels”. This is a rare opportunity to work with Edwin in person and your ticket for this workshop includes entry to the event for the rest of the day - just a handful of tickets left now. The venue has deep history of MBS events (over 30 years) and it’s set against the beautiful backdrop of drop of Ilkley and Ilkley Moor and all that that has to offer.
