🎉🏆 WE’VE BEEN NOMINATED – AND WE’RE SO HONOURED! 🏆🎉

We are incredibly proud to share that D Walsh & Son have been nominated for not just one, but TWO categories at the Yorkshire Choice Awards 2026:

✨ Customer Service Award
✨ Independent Business of the Year

This means so much to us, because these nominations recognise how we care for families — not just what we do. Being trusted to support people at one of the most difficult times in their lives is something we never take for granted. It is truly an honour to guide families with compassion, dignity, and understanding, while helping to create the most personal and meaningful farewell possible for their loved ones.

Every conversation, every detail, and every service we provide is done with genuine care and pride. We believe in listening, supporting, and being there when it matters most — and we are so grateful to everyone who has placed their trust in us. 💛

If you have been supported by us, worked with us, or believe in people-centred businesses that care deeply about what they do, we would be so grateful for your support. Voting closes on 1st March

Thank you for being part of our journey — this recognition belongs to our community as much as it does to us. 💛

❤️ A reminder for this week:

Yesterday marked a very special milestone for me — 10 years with D. Walsh & Son.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the true privilege of serving the families who place their trust in us during some of life’s most difficult moments. Being able to support our clients with care, dignity, and compassion is something I never take for granted.
I’ve also been incredibly lucky to work alongside the most dedicated, kind-hearted team members. The people behind the scenes are the reason we can provide the level of service we do, and I’m proud to stand beside colleagues who share the same passion and commitment every single day.

I have always cared for our funeral homes as if they were my own — with pride, respect, and a deep sense of responsibility to carry on the legacy of the Walsh family. It means so much to be part of something built on tradition, trust, and genuine care for the community.

To the families we have looked after, and to the teammates I’ve worked alongside — thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to continuing to serve with heart, compassion, and dedication.

SANDRA MYTON - 11/11/1967 - 15/12/2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandra Myton, a beloved, sister, auntie and friend.

Sandra's funeral service will take place on Friday 9th January at Scholemoor Crematorium @ 10:10am.

Family flowers only, there will be a collection box on the day in Sandra's memory for the benefit of Bowel Cancer UK.

Born at St Lukes Hospital in Bradford, Sandra grew up and lived her whole life in Bierley. Sandra looked forward to her shopping days around the markets with her Dad on Saturdays but she truly loved her dolls house and she was always looking out for new furniture and miniature items to add her wonderful collection.

Sandra leaves behind her loving sister Lynne, brother Gordon, her beloved niece Samantha and her special friend Kevin. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the late Bernadette Marie Gallivan or more fondly known to many as 'Bernie' on the 12th December 2025.

Bernie's funeral service will take place on Wednesday 14th January at Scholemoor Crematorium @ 13:20pm.

Family flowers only please, however if you wish to make a donation in the memory of Bernie it will be for the benefit of Wards L6 & L7 Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary.

Bernie is a much-loved mum to Warren, Kirsty and McKenzie, a proud nana to Esmae Grace — and of course to Prada, the only grandchild with four legs!

Born in Wakefield and a Bradford girl through and through, Bernie was one of a kind. She loved her TikToks, enjoyed a cheeky go at online gambling, and took her babysitting duties very seriously (snacks, cuddles and a bit of mischief always included).

Bernie had the biggest heart, the sharpest sense of humour and a way of making everyone feel loved — usually while also telling you exactly what she thought.

She will be missed more than words can say, but her laughter, love and spirit will live on through all of us.

Rest easy, Bernie. You’ll never be forgotten!
