At her heaviest, Eleanor avoided leaving the house due to her poor mental health and had given up hope of ever losing weight 💔.

With the encouragement of her grandma and sister, she joined Slimming World – where she lost 6st 4lbs (39.9kg), improved her mental wellbeing and found a community of supportive members 🤗.

Eleanor isn’t alone – our new research shows that members aged 18-34 who attend a Slimming World group feel more supported, have a healthier relationship with food and report improved mental wellbeing. What’s more, 72% say they’d recommend Slimming World to somebody their age 🙌.

Meet Sharon, she lost just over 1st 7lbs and these are her words ♥️

The pic on the left is what started it all. I'd got back from holiday and was transferring pics from my digital camera... I couldn't believe that was me... I then stood on the scales!
I couldn't get on track on my own and just moaned about it, which got me nowhere. Then a friend said 'We're going to Slimming World at Aldersgate on Thursday, do you want to come?'
That's when I first met Julie.
I was at my intended goal in no time at all. I incorporated all I'd learnt into family cooking on a budget and there were no 'my meals, their meals' - we all ate the same thing.
2020 came along and Slimming World took place remotely. I kind of hit a wall and nearly gave up as staying to group, paying and weighing, seeing the familiar friendly faces is what kept me going (and still does now).
That was the year I turned 50 too and a friend said 'Well we're 50 now, things are different and we have to accept that this is what we are gonna be'
That thing was overweight and miserable.... and I didn't want to be either.
Getting straight back on it was the best thing I did. Not for a goal to an upcoming event like I'd always aimed for in previous years - this time it was just for me, a journey for the rest of my life.
The left photo is a reluctantantly posed one taken in Benidorm, the photo on the right is a selfie I proudly took in Ibiza 2025, on one of my solo trips.
Onwards and downwards, and here's to 2026.

This is Trish & her story. Shes a member of both the Low Moor (Thursday) & Wyke (Tuesday) groups ♥️

After plucking up the courage to walk through the door, I joined SW in May 2024 extremely overweight and tipping the scales at over 19st. Although I pretended my weight didn't bother me (I entertain for a living) it really did affect me in more ways than one. Self esteem, shortness of breath, sweating & not being able to walk far.

Once I got through the doors, I realised everyone was there for the same reason. There was no judgement or sniggers, nothing ! I left that first group feeling positive and encouraged by Julie & the other group members.

I got home and read everything through. I really couldn’t believe what you could eat. Doing the prep & cooking made me realise my own food triggers too. My first week felt great, I lost 4.5lbs & started to feel in control. That was it, I was on my way. Week in & week out I lost weight. When I lost the first 5st, I was approved for my new hip replacement. The weight loss made a massive difference to my recovery (I'd had one replacement a few years before). I was walking without aids a couple of weeks after the op.

Slimming World & food optimising has changed my life. I reached my 6st 7lb target in 12 months. Yes I treat myself now and then but the difference now is I know what to do to get back on track.

Support is key I still go every week to both give support to others & keep in check for myself. I'm so proud of what I have achieved. I walk, dance and have a new lease of life. I'd encourage anyone to join Slimming World, it could change your life ! Trish xx
