The University of Bradford Eye Clinic, located in the Phoenix South West Building, has been proudly providing quality eyecare to the community for many years — and we’re now welcoming new patients.

We offer a full range of professional eyecare services, including:

All appointments are carried out by final-year optometry students, under the supervision of a fully qualified optometrist. Please allow up to two hours for your appointment.

🛠️ Adjustment Clinic – Every Friday:
If your spectacles don’t feel quite right, sit unevenly, or slip down your nose, our team can help ensure a comfortable fit.
We can also replace missing nose pads, tighten loose screws, and realign frames for better comfort.
If your spectacles were purchased elsewhere, we’re happy to help — however, adjustments are made at your own risk.

"More than one in 10 children, in every classroom, are estimated to have an undiagnosed vision problem that is impacting their learning and development. The AOP's A B See campaign aims to help children reach their full potential through regular sight testing.

We recommend that children have a sight test, with an optometrist at their local opticians, around the age of three, so that conditions are picked up and treated early.

Did you know?
👓One in five children in the UK are short-sighted
👓A quarter (24%) of school age children haven't been taken for a sight test and one in 10 (10%) 16-year-olds still have unchecked vision
👓More than half (52%) of parents believe that every child has a full sight test at primary school, but this is not the case
👓74% of optometrists have seen children in the past year with vision problems that could have been treated more successfully if they had been diagnosed at an earlier age
👓One in 10 parents believe they must pay for sight tests for their child but all under 16s are entitled to an NHS funded sight test and vouchers towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses
👓Optometrists recommend that children have regular sight tests from around the age of three, to make sure any conditions are picked up and treated early
👓One in 50 children will develop amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye. Amblyopia can become more difficult to treat as a child grows older so it’s important to get their vision checked early
👓You don’t need to wait until your child shows symptoms of an eye problem before taking them to your local opticians – an optometrist can examine a child’s eyes at any age "

The University is conducting a research study on how vision is used dynamically. The study evaluates your visual performance during treadmill walking using different tests. We are asking for healthy volunteers who meet the following criteria:
- Being 65 years of age or older
- Able to read, with each eye, a car plate at 20 m./65 ft. distance
- Able to walk without aids, and have no medical conditions that might affect walking or standing balance.

Participation in the study would involve coming to the University on two occasions, each of around 30 minutes’ duration. Eligibility for the study will be confirmed during the first appointment. Those who take part in this study will receive a travel stipend of £20.
