Recently, Justin delivered Abrasive Wheels training for the team at Batty Joinery in Hull šŸ‘

Abrasive wheels are commonly used across workshops and construction environments, which makes proper training essential for reducing risk, maintaining compliance, and keeping teams safe on site.

It was great to see the team fully engaged throughout the session and committed to continuing to strengthen their workplace safety knowledge.

Investing in training like this not only helps businesses meet their responsibilities, but also builds safer, more confident working environments for staff day to day.

Thank you again to Batty Joinery for choosing GEMšŸ’š

If you’ve ever done training before… what assumptions did you have before walking into the room?

A lot of people expect it to feel awkward, overwhelming, repetitive, or even… pointless.

The reviews we receive often describe something very different.

Gavin recently completed the 2026 London Marathon in a record breaking event, which officially achieved the Guinness World Record for the largest number of marathon finishers.

An incredible achievement to be part of made even more special after months of training, determination, and raising funds for šŸ’š

Although the marathon is complete, there’s still time to support the fundraising effort, with donations remaining open for a little while longer.

Mental Health Awareness Week šŸ’š

In this video, Steph shares a real experience from a previous workplace and how pressure at work began to impact her mental health.

As things progressed, she felt increasingly unsupported and unwelcome even struggling to attend important hospital appointments during pregnancy unless she was able to find cover herself.

Sometimes the signs someone is struggling aren’t always obvious, and many people don’t know how to respond or support a colleague properly.

That’s why conversations, awareness, and mental health training in the workplace matter.

We’ve also shared one of our blogs exploring what to do if you’re worried about a colleague’s mental health and don’t know how to help. šŸ’š

Mental Health Awareness Week šŸ’š

This week, Steph has been answering some important questions around mental health in the workplace.

One of the questions we explored was:
šŸ‘‰ What can damage mental health in a workplace?

Things like excessive workload, lack of support, poor communication, workplace pressure, bullying, unrealistic expectations, and poor work-life balance can all have a real impact on someone’s mental wellbeing.

Creating mentally healthy workplaces starts with awareness, support, and open conversations which is why mental health training is more important than ever.

We also have a number of upcoming Mental Health First Aid courses available across Yorkshire and the North West for businesses and individuals looking to better support mental wellbeing in the workplace.

Ā£3,262 raised for šŸ’š

What started as one marathon challenge became something much bigger.

From clients and customers, to local businesses, friends, family, and everyone who donated or shared the journey thank you. Every bit of support genuinely made a differencešŸ’Ž

At GEM Compliance Training, community has always been a huge part of what we do, and this challenge showed just how powerful that support can be when people come together behind a cause.

The marathon may be done, but there’s still time to support Asthma + Lung UK, with the fundraising page remaining open for a little while longer link in our bio šŸ”—

Thank you again to everyone who’s been part of the journey šŸ’š

How can you help someone having an asthma attack

ā€œWould you know what to do if someone was having an asthma attack?

In that moment, knowing how to respond quickly and calmly can make a real difference.

Simple actions like helping them sit upright, stay calm, and use their inhaler correctly can help prevent the situation from becoming more serious.

But awareness alone isn’t always enough. Confidence comes from knowing exactly what to do in real life situations.

That’s why our Managing Anaphylaxis & Asthma training focuses on practical, hands on guidance to help you respond when it matters most.

Asthma can’t be cured but it can be managed.

For many people, inhalers and medication help control symptoms and prevent flare ups.

But knowing how asthma is managed isn’t just important for individuals it’s important for anyone responsible for others in workplaces, schools or care settings.

Understanding treatment helps you recognise when something isn’t right and when action may be needed.

Can you exercise with asthma?

It’s a common concern but asthma doesn’t always have to limit what you can do.

Our Managing Director Gavin recently completed the London Marathon in 4 hours 14 minutes and 36 seconds while managing asthma. His experience shows that with the right understanding, preparation and support, it’s possible to stay active and achieve incredible things.

If you’re unsure what’s safe, how to manage symptoms during exercise, or what to look out for, building that knowledge can make all the difference.

āž”ļø Read Gavin’s full story and how he managed his asthma in our blog (link in bio)

You’ll also find a link at the end of the blog if you’d like to support his fundraising for Asthma + Lung UK.
