Sharing information about and is what we do.
Many people are not aware of the benefits of screening nor of , simply not knowing the value of knowing what is normal for them and then what to do about it!

We will attend events, come to your workplace or school, arrange a meet up at a library or community centre, online too...no charge, just free information!

It isn't nice to hear you have a disease when you feel fine, however, that is when you are more likely to have options; to benefit from treatments and lifestyle choices.

On BBC Breakfast this morning, the importance of attending your first breast screening appointment was highlighted, we want to echo one clear message: early detection saves lives.

When that first screening letter arrives, taking up the appointment could make all the difference.

But attendance is only part of the picture.

We’re also focused on strengthening the system behind the scenes. Screening only works if there are enough highly trained specialists available to deliver it.

That’s why we helped fund the National Breast Imaging Academy, a pioneering building to tackle the UK’s breast imaging workforce shortage.

By investing in the next generation of breast radiologists and advanced practitioners, we are:
• Expanding capacity
• Reducing pressure on services
• Supporting earlier diagnosis
• Protecting the future of breast screening

There’s also brilliant work happening across Greater Manchester. NHS cancer screening improvement leads and the Prevent Health Inequalities team are working hard to raise awareness and break down barriers that stop people coming forward. But if we want to see real, consistent improvements in screening uptake across the UK, that work needs proper, long-term funding behind it.

Encouraging people to attend their screening is vital.
But we must also ensure the workforce is there to see them.

In a word —- Yes

🎀Alcohol consumption definitely does increase the risk of developing breast cancer.

🎀Around 8-10% of breast cancers are linked to alcohol consumption.

🎀The more alcohol you consume, the higher your risk.

🎀Alcohol increases levels of hormones like oestrogen, which can fuel hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

🎀Alcohol is broken down into a compound called acetaldehyde, which can damage DNA.🧬

🎀Alcohol is linked to an increased risk of several cancer types, with breast cancer being one of the most common.

🎀Reducing alcohol intake, having alcohol-free days, and avoiding binge drinking are effective ways to lower the risk.

🏃‍♀️Please take care of yourself
Eat a healthy diet / try to maintain a healthy weight / take exercise and reduce alcohol intake as much as you can.
