We recently enjoyed a visit from the students at Park Aspire as part of our ongoing generational linking programme. The visit was filled with smiles, laughter, and lovely moments shared between the children and our residents.

The students brought plants and birdhouses, which was a lovely surprise for residents. We spent time in the garden together, chatting, enjoying ice creams, and building meaningful connections.

Visits like these are incredibly valuable, helping to promote social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and a sense of community for both residents and students!

Our Activities Coordinator, Phil, recently attended his quarterly Activities Coordinators Meeting, where coordinators from across the Bradford district came together to share updates, ideas, and inspiring community stories.

We were incredibly proud and delighted to see one of our residents, Norris, featured in the presentation during a discussion about intergenerational linking. As part of our community involvement, we regularly build connections with local schools and nurseries, helping to bring younger and older generations together. ❤️

The presenter shared how meaningful and beneficial Norris’ words were to the students, explaining that his advice and experiences really stayed with them and made a lasting impact.

This was highlighted to Activities Coordinators across the Bradford district as a wonderful example of the importance of intergenerational relationships and the positive impact they can have on both younger and older generations alike.

We are so proud of Norris for representing the value of these special connections so beautifully. 👏

Norris' family brought his great grandson, Theo, to visit!👶 Thanks so much for letting us pass him around. We can't tell you how much it meant to some residents. There was plenty of reminiscing and Eileen sang hickory dickory dock to him. What a gorgeous, happy baby!❤️

Did you know…

💧 Staying hydrated in warm weather is really important for people living with dementia, as they may not always feel or recognise thirst. Offering regular drinks little and often can make a big difference.

🍦 Ice lollies and ice cream aren’t just a treat – they’re a fun and effective way to help with hydration, especially if someone is reluctant to drink. Plus, they often bring back lovely childhood memories!

🍓 Fresh summer fruits like watermelon, strawberries, oranges and grapes are packed with fluids, making them a tasty way to stay hydrated while enjoying seasonal flavours.

🥤 Offering a variety of drinks – from juice and milkshakes to flavoured water – can encourage more regular sipping throughout the day.

🌈 Brightly coloured foods and drinks can be more appealing and easier to notice, helping to prompt eating and drinking.

😊 Sharing a refreshing snack or drink together can also be a lovely social moment, encouraging conversation and connection.

We had a lovely Chinese theme day! Sweet and sour chicken and Chinese curry went down a treat. Ian's fortune cookie advice was "You will feel on top of the world" and he said "I do!"🪭🏮🧧
