If you are yet to embark on your yoga journey or feel that you’ve missed a few steps along the way, we’d like to invite you to our upcoming Yoga for Beginner’s 6-Week Course.

Join Lorna for this well-rounded programme will provide you with a solid foundation to your asana practice which you’ll have your lifetime to build upon! We will spend time on classical sun salutations, standing poses (including balances), seated poses, twists, hip openers, back bends.

Yoga allows you to develop a connection with yourself and be able to listen in a way you may not have previously been able to. This can mean that you notice niggles before they become injuries, notice tiredness before it turns into exhaustion and find tightness in a muscle before it signals to the brain a severely stressful situation.

If you’ve been attending Yoga classes you will have probably heard your teacher talking a lot about the breath! Breathing techniques, or Pranayama as they are known in Yoga, play a key role in this ancient practice and are often the foundation or starting point of any movement. In a regular Yoga class setting, the dedicated breathing aspect of the practice is often very short as the focus tends to be on getting the body moving. So unless you are practising breathing techniques at home or within other specific classes you might not be accessing the full benefits of this powerful aspect of Yoga.

This September we have a dedicated 6 week series, designed to teach you how to tap into & utilise your breath so it can support your capacity of physical, mental & emotional wellbeing. There are so many benefits that breathwork can bring not only to your Yoga but to your day to day life too. It can help improve & sustain better focus & concentration whilst allowing you to decompress from stress and become more mindful through challenging situations.

🌀Ashtanga Yoga: Guided Primary Series

Students can expect to be led through the full ashtanga yoga primary series, but with the opportunity to pause, ask questions, look at technique and modifications for any poses that invite challenge.

The class will flow though the first half of the series, relaxing into more of a workshop for the second half of the practice, depending on level of familiarity/ experience of students. Attendees will get the opportunity to practice the full primary series, with support and guidance with a non-judgemental, fun, and relaxed approach.

There will be some hands-on adjustment (optional via consent cards) and lots of verbal guidance and support to help in getting the most from the practice. The workshop will be strong, energising, dynamic and finish with a deep guided relaxation.

We will practice the traditional opening and closing chants and look at their meaning (participation optional!) Attendees will take away the “feel good yoga glow” that arises from practising in this way.

Prana is the life force. You do not see the life force. You only experience the effects of life force. Prana is subtle. The most ancient practice of Pranayama is to learn to expand and experience this life force. All modern breathwork practices are derived and inspired by these ancient practices of pranayama.

In this half day workshop Sudhir brings in his 34 years of experience and wisdom supported by his scientific background to explain about biomechanics and bio-chemicals of breathing. He gives a summary of the power of pranayama for physical and mental wellbeing and how to use pranayama / breathwork to train our nervous system. This is followed by a 60 to 90 mins of intense guided breathing practice. The workshop will end with a Q&A session.

Each one of us experiences perimenopause and menopause in our own ways with our own set of symptoms which can fluctuate and change over time. We can manage this by taking time to look after ourselves and to listen to our bodies.
The first half of the workshop will be a vinyasa, flowing class where Cathryn will take you through a set of movements to build strength and resilience in body and mind.

The second half Kat will guide you through a restorative yoga and breathing practice that will encourage feelings of coolness and rest.

Ending with a Sharing Circle and a soothing cup of balancing herbal tea by medical herbalist Vicky Jennings.
