For Christians, this is Holy Week (29 March-5 April 2026). The week starts with Palm Sunday, leading to Maudy Thursday (remembering Jesus Christ’s Last Supper) then Good Friday when Christ died on the cross, and ending with Easter Sunday (5 April) remembering Christ’s rising back to life. The week is a time for deep reflection and ending with great celebration.
We wish all our colleagues, patients, and families joy and peace at Easter.

Join us for Holy Communion on Wednesday 1 April at 12.30pm to 1pm in the BRI Chapel and Easter songs on the Main Concourse at BRI, led by Bradford Chorale on Thursday 2 April at 12noon to 1pm.

Happy Holi to all staff, patients, families and cariers at BTFHT. Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates spring, love, and new life. Some families hold religious ceremonies, but for many Holi is more a time for fun. It's a colourful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of powder paint and coloured water. Holi is also known as the "festival of colours".

We’d like to wish all our Jewish colleagues, patients, and communities a very Happy Hannukah.

We hope this celebration brings lots of love and warmth during the Festival of Light, when candles are lit each night.

Hannukah is traditionally celebrated for eight days around the time of Christmas, depending on the lunar calendar. This year, Hannukah is celebrated from sundown on 14 December to nightfall on 22 December.

Bodhi Day falls on 8 December 2025 and celebrates the day in which Siddhartha Gautama sat underneath the Bodhi tree and attained enlightenment. This one defining moment would become the central foundation upon which Buddhism has been built upon for the last 2,500 years. It is a day on which followers can renew their dedication to Buddhism; reaffirm themselves to enlightenment, compassion, and kindness to other living creatures; and also understand the relevance of this religion as it applies to the modern world

Bandi Chhor Diwas marks the day Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was released from Gwalior Fort in 1619, along with 52 Hindu kings. Guru Ji refused freedom until all the others were also freed, symbolising compassion, equality, and genuine leadership. This day coincides with Diwali, the festival of lights, symbolises truth over oppression and freedom over captivity. Bandi Chhor Diwas and Diwali remind us not only of freedom and light, but of our duty to become the light in other's darkness.

Happy Bandi Chhor to all our Sikh colleagues, visitors, patients and families.

Happy Diwali to all those people celebrating today.
Hope everyone enjoys the festivities this festival brings; we wish you good health, peacefulness and a great new year.
The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word deepavali, meaning "rows of lighted lamps".
Houses, shops and public places are decorated with small oil lamps called diyas. People also enjoy fireworks and sweets too, so it's really popular with children.
Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs. The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika
Diwali, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
