Not all funeral services have to be sad. This was a service held in our chapel last Friday, where Carolyn Turrall Professional Celebrant certainly embraced Pat's interests.
It's so lovely to hear all the different eulogies, as you get a sense of what the Deceased was actually like.
You may hear people say "we wanted to celebrate their life" & this is exactly what Pat's family did. She certainly had a great send off.📖
We understand people grieve for their loved one & it does take time, however it's important to remember those happy times & cherish those memories we have. 🩷
Magic was the order of the day as we said farewell to ‘Potterhead’ Pat.
Pat’s love of Harry Potter and his adventures enabled her to escape into a magical world where wizards and witches lived secretly amongst ‘Muggles’.
Pat had an extensive knowledge of the Harry Potter universe, including characters, spells, creatures and locations.
Every time Pat visited the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour, she was in her element, bombing around the Great Hall, Forbidden Forest, Diagon Alley and Gringotts Bank in her motorised wheelchair.
She totally immersed herself in the tour from flying wands to butter beer, and she never left the giftshop without spending a fortune.
It was a real privilege to work with Pat’s family to design a Harry Potter themed service. Wise and meaningful words from Professor Dumbledore, Sirius Black and Luna Lovegood, were woven into the service, along with nods to Harry Potter, Hogwarts, Gryffindor, the Marauder's Map and Platform 9 ¾.
No detail was spared. I conducted Pat’s service in my personal Dolores Umbridge outfit, and family and friends carried Hedwig owls, wore Harry Potter capes and Gryffindor ties.
As Professor Dumbledore said “To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure”.
Rest in perfect peace Pat, until we meet again in Hogwarts Great Hall in the sky.
