It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

St Mary’s Court Care Home in Bocking is one of six homes across the country on the shortlist for National Care Home of the Year after scoring 60 out of 60 and achieving Platinum Accreditation from the Gold Standards Framework , which recognises quality of end-of-life care, leadership quality and the dignity and respect afforded to residents.

GSF is an evidence-based, systematic approach to formalising best practice through improving the organisation and co-ordination of care for all people in the final year, months and days of life.

Julie Armstrong-Wilson, Chief Operating Officer for the Gold Standards Framework CIC, said: “St Mary’s Court should be congratulated for putting Platinum quality care at the heart of what it does for all its residents.”

The team at St Mary’s Court will find out if they have scooped the Care Home of the Year award in October, after the presentation of the GSF awards.

Sonnet Care Homes are proud to announce that our Matron, Joan Sirett, has been Highly Commended in the PROSPER Awards in the category of Outstanding Leadership. ⭐️🏆

PROSPER is Ess*x County Council’s independent charity committed to bringing about better health and social care in the UK.

Joan has dedicated her 44-year working life to caring for others. After many years in senior clinical roles within the NHS, she has been Matron for Sonnet Care Homes for the past 11 ½ years. Her role is to support the two Home Managers in delivering exemplary care and clinical standards. In reality she contributes far more than that and is a key member of our leadership team.

The team at Sonnet agreed unanimously that Joan is a perfect example of a lifelong dedication to improving standards of care through exemplary leadership.

The awards took place on 8th July.

Previous experience is not mandatory, though the successful applicant will have demonstrated a kind and caring attitude, good communication skills, willingness to work as part of a team, and a high regard for privacy, dignity and human rights.

All new members of the team receive full support with induction training and ongoing supervision, and we actively develop people through adult apprenticeships.

Weekend work is required on a rota basis.
