I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 40. After years of being told my symptoms were “normal”.

If your periods are:

• Debilitating
• Extremely painful
• Heavy or clotty
• Causing fatigue that wipes you out
• Triggering acne flare-ups
• Bringing bloating, bowel symptoms or nausea
• Making you miss work or social plans

Please don’t just put up with it.

Severe pain and heavy bleeding are not something you’re meant to power through.

Endometriosis is common.
It’s underdiagnosed.
And early investigation matters.

Medical assessment is essential.

And alongside that, there is a lot you can do to support inflammation, hormone regulation, blood sugar stability and overall resilience.

You deserve answers - not dismissal.

Hormones don’t respond to food alone.

They respond to signals.

Three signals matter more than most women realise:

1️⃣ Sleep rhythm → cortisol regulation
If your sleep timing is inconsistent, your cortisol curve shifts.
And when cortisol shifts, blood sugar, cravings and mood follow.

2️⃣ Stress load → blood sugar stability
Chronic stress drives glucose swings.
Glucose swings drive irritability, anxiety and afternoon crashes.

3️⃣ Protein timing → neurotransmitter production
Skipping protein at breakfast = unstable energy and low resilience by mid-morning.

You can eat “clean” and still feel wired, tired and hormonally chaotic.

Because hormones are regulatory systems - not calorie equations.

When we align sleep, stress and protein intake, hormone stability improves faster and feels sustainable.

If you’re doing “all the right things” but still feel off, this is where I start with my clients.

If the same goals show up on your list every January, it’s probably not a motivation issue.

Big changes feel good at the start, but small habits are what actually carry you through the year.

What’s one small habit you could realistically stick to this month?

If the same goals keep showing up on your New Year’s resolution list, the problem isn’t motivation - it’s the size of the change you’re trying to make.

Real progress doesn’t come from overhauling your life in January. It comes from small, repeatable habits you can actually stick to.

That might look like:

• getting up 15 minutes earlier so mornings feel calmer

• a 20-minute walk at lunchtime for movement and daylight

• prepping breakfast or lunch the night before so nutrition doesn’t become an afterthought

None of this is exciting.
And that’s why it works.

You don’t need a new version of yourself this year.

You need consistency, patience, and a bit of honesty about what’s realistic.

Start small. Do it often. Build from there.

I’ve written more about this on my blog - link in bio if you’d like the longer read.

At the Inside Out Microbiome & Gut Health Festival in London, I spoke about the bi-directional relationship between women’s hormones and the gut - how oestrogen and progesterone can influence digestion and mood, and how the microbiome in turn can shape hormone balance. Such an inspiring event to be part of! ❤️

If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry - I’ll be sharing more soon here.
