We were very honoured to carry out the funeral of the late Kit Waskett, former Lydney Park Head Forester and a devoted family man in late May.

All of Kit's life was spent working in the forests in various places where he became extremely skilled before he headed up the Forestry Team at Lydney Park Estate for a number of years, also living on the estate with his family.

His forestry tractor and trailer, of which he became synonymous with, was a handed picked vehicle which involved a trip all the way to Scotland with a couple of colleagues to collect.

As such, Kit's fellow colleagues set about creating a beautiful woodland theme on the trailer bed of the tractor for a very fitting final journey.

Because of Kit's life and long association with the forests, it seemed only right to have a natural pine coffin, supplied by J C Walwyn & Sons, that was finished with a natural and stunning coffin spray made by the family.

The photos from Kit's service appear with the very kind permission of his wife Jess.

We are also honoured to be highlighted by Langstone Vale Crematorium and Memorial Gardens, another Westerleigh Group crematorium on the outskirts of Newport, where we frequent with many of the families we serve in Chepstow, Caldicot & their surrounding areas.

Langstone Vale offers a new and stylish chapel, able to host around 200 people seated and standing, with their team headed up by Aaron Carter, who we worked with for a long period in the Forest of Dean prior to his switch to Langstone Vale.

Last week we had the honour of carrying out the funeral of the late Geoff Willetts of Pillowell, owner of Geoff Willetts Coaches based out of the Old Coach Garage in Pillowell.

Geoff's coaches had a distinctive lilac livery with red, black & burgandy stripes. His family wished for his casket to emulate this and working closely with Somerset Willow Coffins, we were able to provide a bespoke casket to match Geoff's old liveries.

Even more fitting for Geoff's final journey was his family attached his old bus driver's ID to the casket at the Old Coach Garage, before Geoff departed the garage for his final journey.

Below is a selection of photos from the funeral as well as one of Geoff's old coaches with the kind permission of Sue & Tracey.

Today we remembered the man who established Ian Watts & Son back in 1968, the late Ian Watts, on what would have been his 90th birthday 🤍.

A devoted family man, excellent musician and a hard working driven gentleman who always took pride in everything he did. He defined the values we still stand for to this very day.

Although the business has grown to heights that we are sure he would never have imagined, one thing we're sure of is he would have been immensely proud of what we have achieved, but most importantly how we continue to provide the upmost care and support to all our families.

Pictured below is a very young Martin with Ian outside All Saint's Church, Viney Hill.
