We all have mental health, and it's just as important to look after it as it is our physical health. But I truly believe that because it's a less visible aspect of our wellbeing, it's something we often don't give a lot of intentional support.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, my blog post is all about practical, research backed things that genuinely help. Whether you are not feeling at your best right now, or simply want to find some simple things you can do to keep you feeling well, I think you will find it helpful.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year's theme is Take Action — for yourself, for someone else, for all of us.

Sometimes the most powerful action you can take is for someone else. The woman in your life who keeps everything moving for everyone around her and rarely stops for herself. The one who would never book this for herself but absolutely should.

Taking action looks different for everyone. Sometimes it's a conversation. Sometimes it's asking for help. And sometimes it's simply giving yourself permission to stop for a while — to rest properly, to be looked after.

Sanctuary is a private wellbeing space for women in Breamore, near Fordingbridge. Restorative treatments for body and mind, in a space that asks nothing of you except that you show up.

Getting out of the car and having to just stand there for a moment while your hips remember how to work. Sitting at your desk for a couple of hours and realising your neck just won't turn properly. Waking up and needing ten minutes before your body feels like your own again.
