Mental Wealth Matters To promote self nurturing and self care.

Our mental health is our wealth, and so I founded Mental Wealth Matters to achieve a clear goal : To help people understand how trauma can induce poor mental health and how they can address this.

Fertility journey…
I’ve written a few posts here and there and made reference to mine but never spoken like this about it on here. Even then…I feel I missed stuff out but it was enough for today.

So many individuals and couples are facing the heartache that accompanies fertility struggles. Raising awareness is the goal.

There isn’t always the desired ending but we live in hope and give love to one’s who need it.

People suffer in silence. So we do need to challenge those who encourage societal and cultural conformity. Not everyone has the strength to do so. Be non-judgemental and empathic…it goes a long way.

To all the warriors on this journey…

~ You are valued

2 years post op today! What a blessing to be alive and “reborn”.

I was told I may not make it on the operating theatre. My whole world turned upside down and has never been the same since!

My gratitude for being alive is something that carries me through the dark times.
I can wholeheartedly (see what I did there…!?!) acknowledge how precious time is. It is our greatest gift in life which is also non-refundable! Once time passes, it never comes back. Without knowing, we can miss out on special moments and people in our life. Therefore making each moment so valuable. I haven’t always done this and even though the last 2 years have been the hardest, loneliest and evolving period I have experienced to date. I have learned to re-evaluate:

> My diet (thank you & )
> How I breathe
> How I sleep
> Relationships
> My purpose
> How, who & what toxicity to remove from my life
> The impact of stress on me

It’s recovery on a day to day basis but I’m ok with that and given all that….I guess I am allowed to have a 2nd day of birth in the year….Any excuse to celebrate another birthday I guess!

Value your time and who you choose to spend it with.

Happy New Year people!

Let’s not complicate the New Year’s resolutions….

Let’s just be kinder to ourselves & others.

Let’s be true to ourselves. If it doesn’t feel right…don’t do it…don’t say it…don’t be part of it.

Trust in a higher power and know you’re not alone.

One step at a time…it’s ok.

Breathe…deeply (regularly throughout the day).

Feel your emotions…they deserve to be heard and understood.

Surround yourself with people that nourish you and not deplete you.

Ask for help…reach out.

Be INTENTIONAL this year with all the above and so much more that you specifically need.

Be INTENTIONAL with bringing the “Happy” into your New Year 💕

As someone who implements Inner Child work A LOT, I recognise the power of letting my own inner child to be seen, heard and have fun.

Last night, I had the pleasure of spending the evening with my childhood friend We ate in and sat on swings the whole time. It was absolutely fantastic as we were able to experience a piece of our childhood as adults.

We would spend hours on the swing in the garden, as children. The chaos, drama or trauma didn’t matter when we played on our swing. It was a place of comfort, safety and where we could just be kids.

As adults we forget what that’s like. We get so caught up with adulting that we can ignore that our inner child just wants some fun and to be noticed. As an adult, it’s important to engage the brain and body with things have nourished us as children.

What can you do today to engage your inner child?

Have you come to a point in your life where you are ready for a change? Where you need help and are ready for therapy or coaching?

Read below if yes ⬇️ ⬇️⬇️

▪️Do your research on the type of therapy you need? Read up the different types. Trust your intuition and see what you are drawn to.

▪️Maybe speak to a professional about what therapy might suit you if you are still undecided.

▪️When choosing you want to work with…check out the following:
➡️ How long have they been doing this?
➡️ Do they have areas of specialism?
➡️ What made them choose this line of work? (sometimes the ones who want to heal others…needs the most healing - professionals included)
➡️ Do they have external supervision? (This gives you an idea if the person takes care of their professional well being as well as their personal - it helps to practice safely and effectively)
➡️ What does your gut tell you about their interaction with you?
➡️ You have the right to gather information just as much as they do about you.

Ultimately, be empowered in your choices. Having therapy can prove to be the most vulnerable and fragile time…make sure you get the right fit!

TO SCAR OR NOT TO SCAR!

I initially thought I would hide my scar forever as I was horrified how it healed and couldn’t even look at it.
Then I realised…why conceal the very reminder that I was given a second chance at life?! Wear your scars with pride…they tell your story 💋

Childhood Trauma

It’s not really a topic that people like to talk about.
Sometimes, high risk groups such; Looked after children; Care Leavers; Adult children of Addicts & Alcoholics; Sufferers of severe Mental Health issues…(you get the jist) are the ones that are forced to address their childhood trauma.

The reality is that most people will have some trauma from their childhood BUT some more than others, resulting in greater consequences.

For some it will affect their mental health and well-being. For other, their physical health. The reality is…that somewhere in your adulthood, it does catch up.

We store trauma in our bodies and carry this through life.
My point is….SEEK HEALING. Wherever this can be from…SEEK IT!

Trauma makes us resilient but it’s also a silent killer. So be sure not to use your resilience as a way to detach from the very thing that may be keeping you “unwell”.

Remember…childhood trauma touches all parts of our lives and we can start the healing journey at any time.

Sometimes we end up in life where we may feel powerless. Where we’ve given consent to others to take parts of us.
It could be habit, unresolved trauma or poor self esteem. Maybe all three of those!

Nobody deserves to feel less than nor that they don’t matter.

So how can we get it back?

> Learn to say No. (Practice this with safe people in your life).
> Get rid of toxic people in your life.
> Be kind to yourself (small daily acts is a great start).
> Get support / help with unresolved trauma.
> KNOW YOUR WORTH (build your confidence).

Take back your power…you are deserving.

I have loved to travel my whole life. In fact…it was how I would escape whatever adversity I faced.
In recent years this has been curtailed for one reason or another and the pandemic made sure of it.

BUT the pandemic and my physical health taught me that I need to get my get my pockets of peace and shots of stillness WHEREVER I am. I still love travelling but making sure I take time for me and just having peace and stillness where I can heals me in parts I can’t always reach.

Take time for you. Peace & Stillness are healing.

It’s seems so prevalent these days that people are walking around with high levels of anxiety.

To think we can function so well despite:

> Sleeplessness
> Irritability
> Restlessness
> Heart rate fluctuations
> Disordered food intake
> Muscle tightness
> Inner sadness

Just think what this does to our health…..
BUT WE STILL CARRY ON!

If you’re anxiety is at a significant high, try and do the following:

> 10 Deep breaths
> Familiarise yourself with Box Breathing
> Talk to a non toxic person in your life about it
> Limit caffeine & alcohol
> Go for a walk or spend time around nature 🦋
> Do or watch something that will make you laugh
> Start acknowledging that YOU need you TOO (read that again!)
> Hold positivity as your torch through it (this is hard…but doable).

Count your mental health a priority in line with your physical health.

Much Love 💕
