💪 Breaking the “3-Set Rule” Myth in Training 💡
Have you ever wondered why three sets are the golden rule in training? Maybe even 5 sets? It’s a classic case of a self-fulfilling tautology:
1️⃣ “Everybody does three sets because it’s the best way to train.”
2️⃣ “Since everyone does it, it must be the best.”
But is that really true? 🤔
In the 1990s, Mike Mentzer, a former Mr. Universe, challenged this idea with the concepts of High Intensity Training taught to him by Arthur Jones. He proved that one set to failure could grow muscle just as effectively, and yet, bodybuilding magazines undermined his argument by showcasing massive bodybuilders who followed high-volume programs.
The headline? “Is everyone really wrong?”
This kind of reasoning persists in fitness debates:
➡️ Many argue that multi-set training is superior simply because it’s popular. But remember, popularity doesn’t equal proof. For decades, people believed the sun revolved around the Earth, but that didn’t make it true! 🌍☀️ this concept is still highly challenged today.
The reality is that the “3-set norm” wasn’t based on science—it was just a comfortable number with cultural significance. So, don’t let tradition dictate your progress. Experiment, find what works for you, and remember: what’s best isn’t always what’s popular. 🚀
