The company St Michaels Homes Ltd comprises of two elderly care homes which are adjacent to each other Howard Lodge & Dudbrook House, nestling in beautiful park-like gardens in Kelvedon Common on the outskirts of Brentwood, surrounded by beautiful Essex countryside, with abundant wildlife, including

deer as regular visitors. St Michaels Homes Ltd is a family-run company. The company was established by managing director Sheila Watson in 1991 and has been handed over to her children Claire & Sean Watson. Sheila trained as a registered nurse & midwife followed by 25yrs in midwifery, followed by 5 yrs as a health advisor to the elderly & obtained a diploma in gerontology. With this experience in care of residents comes from the top down, this can be seen by the way the residents are cared for by all staff. The staff are the heart of St Michaels Homes and they are the ones who give so much and care for all our residents and we are truly so blessed with all the love and care they give to every resident at Howard Lodge and Dudbrook House. Loneliness and feeling a burden in older age is a great and growing scourge of our society. You will not find lonely people in our care homes - you will find support, companionship and strong bonds of friendship.

Today we had a full day with volunteers in the sensory garden. Lots of residents and relatives coming to see what we were doing. All the veggies are in and some plants too. Still so so much to do but a big thank you to PJ, Carol and Mia for helping out. I couldn’t keep it looking so nice without volunteers. 🌺🌼🌸🌻

What an absolute corker of a day we have had at Howard Lodge. Residents have enjoyed a relaxing time around the gardens and just enjoying the weather. Others have been doing jigsaws, games and looking through reminiscence boxes. Then this afternoon we celebrated VE Day with Debbie Rainforth singing 🇬🇧 if residents weren’t up and dancing they were chair dancing and singing so loud and proud whilst waving their flags. Once again thank you to Maxine and Ann for coming in to help 💜 We hope you all have a fantastic weekend 🤩
