ons, deficiency. My Health & Fitness classes provide both internal and external forms of exercise. For our bodies to be healthy we need the whole Kinetic Chain to be strong. If not, we identify the weak link. Water - is the most essential and abundance nutrient available, yet most of us are dehydrated most of the time. Our whole body needs sufficient water to functional optimally. Air - Breath, without it we die. Pranayama and deep breathing helps oxygenate the body and cells, provide ATP energy. Hypoxia affects our mental and cognitive ability. Air is Chi, our vital life force. Thoughts - the way we think, affects what we do. Our thoughts can be the most toxic thing we hold in our body. The Mind and Body are intrinsically connected. To change the way we feel we sometimes need to change the way we think. Our bodies are the vehicles we use to experience our time on earth, if we don't take care of our vehicles, then the Soul has nothing to drive!

TENSION RELEASE THE FIZZ 🫧 WORKSHOP/CLASS

Did you know that you hold stored stress as tension in the body in different locations? More often we have a 'go-to' or weak spot that is mainly impacted.

Focussed stress, driving, doing too much, excess responsibility will often be stored in the neck and shoulder area. Your stuck in a traffic jam and late for an appointment as you grip your steering wheel in frustration notice this may create episodic (short term) stress and you feel that it later in your shoulders as tension, fizzing in the background.

Tightness in the body may be temporary stress, but when we forget or don't know how to release or let go of it, we store it, hold it and continue to build excess tension in that area. This can then lead to stiff shoulders, headaches or migraines, eye strain, poor mobility in the neck, shoulder rotation issues, raised blood pressure and so on.

Each location has it symptoms and conditions, for many Women we store emotional stress in the gut. Stored stress as tension in the gut might not be as tangible to our awareness as tight shoulders. It can build up ever so slowly over time.

Many of us have a good sense of body awareness we know our shoulders are tight and we can guess that is due to stress/tension.
But stress held as tension in the Gut may be more subtle, we may not have as good body awareness that the digestive issues we are experiencing are related to Stress held tension, rather than food sensitivities or something we ate. This may present up as IBS, bloating, nausea, knot in stomach, anxiety.

Other common locations where we hold Stress as tension is in the Jaw, the Forehead, the Throat, Psoas or lower back, Pelvic floor, Knees just to mention a few.

"Stress held as tension can lead to problems with the musculoskeletal, respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine, gastrointestinal, nervous, and reproductive systems. It’s called somatization—the medical term for expressing stress as physical symptoms".

The Art of Qigong : Water Winter Element

Thursday 28th November at 2pm

In today's class we work with the Kidney and Bladder Meridians associated with Water/Winter Element. The Kidneys are vital for maintain our vitality, longevity and support Jing Essence for physical health and well being.

The Kidney's are our filtration system and ensure good water balance within. Fear and shock drains our Kidney Qi. The Kidney/Bladder supports our ears, bones, marrow and brain.

Water Element we use fluid terms like "go with the flow" and we work with the colour blue. The best nutrition for Water Element is drinking more clean water to stay fully hydrated. Every cell in our body requires hydration.

I LOVE THIS ANALOGY:
You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?
"Because someone bumped into me!!!"
Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.
Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.
Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.
So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"
When life gets tough, what spills over?
Joy, gratitude, peace and humility?
Anger, bitterness, victim mentality and quitting tendencies?
Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.
Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, resilience, positivity; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.
