May peace, peace, and peace be with us all.

In my more advanced classes, I always chant the opening invocation, but what exactly does it mean?!!

The Ashtanga opening chant is a thank you to the lineage of teachers and a wish for freedom from suffering.

It sets the tone: humility, protection, clarity, and devotion to practice.

In short, the opening chant is a thank‑you to the teachers who passed yoga down to us, and a reminder that practice helps clear the ‘poison’ of stress and confusion.
It honours Patanjali, the sage of yoga, and sets a calm, focused intention for our practice.

If you are trying to learn it, resources include Madonna's Ray of light album (!) She did a cover of it back in the 1998 !!

A 'Mysore style' class in action!! This is probably the hardest class to fill - our other 'led' classes sell out so quickly and people seem reluctant to try this amazing technique...

Mysore style teaches you how to build your own practice.
Over time, you stop relying on someone else to lead every breath and movement, and begin to trust yourself and your own rhythm .
You learn the sequence gradually, step by step, until the practice becomes something you carry with you wherever you go. A moving meditation. A daily anchor.

There’s something deeply empowering about rolling out your mat and knowing you can practice independently - whether in a studio, at home, or anywhere in the world.
The teacher guides you in the beginning, but eventually the practice becomes your teacher..... 🕉️

Exciting classes coming at the Wee Yoga Room!

As my regular students know I love to teach Restorative yoga as well as my Vinyasa classes.
I feel restorative yoga gives us permission to relax before we are tired.

In these classes we may only do 5 postures in an hour long class. Allowing body & mind to settle.

If you are interested here are my Restorative offerings here are the details of upcoming classes & workshop at The Wee Yoga Room

***Friday Eve Class***
I will be back to teaching my Restorative classes in June on Friday nights 5:30pm - 6:30pm . First one being 5th June.

***Saturday Afternoon Workshop***
I will however be running a 2 hour Gentle breath work & movement into Restorative workshop on Saturday 30th May 2pm-4pm.

These classes / workshops will continue to be pay what you can. Just bring yourself in comfy clothing (doesn't need to be yoga or gym wear ) & whatever you can afford.
I'll set up a wee mail box so nobody knows what anyone's payment is.
I look forward to seeing everyone on their mats 🧘❤️🙏

From time to time, I get asked if we offer 'drop - in' classes Ashtanga isn’t a drop‑in kind of yoga - and that’s exactly why it works.

Ashtanga is a little different from other styles - it’s not a “turn up when you fancy it” kind of yoga.
It’s a rhythm, a routine, a relationship. And like any relationship, it needs consistency to grow.

That’s why I don’t offer drop‑ins for Ashtanga.
The sequence builds week by week, and when you stick with it, you feel the changes: deeper breath, steadier mind, stronger body.

And the best part?
Once you’ve learned the sequence, you can practise at home.
No machines, no equipment - just you, your mat, and a method that becomes yours for life.
