Good afternoon 🌧️
I’m feeling a little under the weather today 🤧 and with the rain coming down, I’ve decided to stay in and take it easy. But I thought this would be the perfect time to share a bit about my vision for The Sanctuary community forest.
As some of you know, I live with a couple of chronic health conditions that can stop me in my tracks. But that doesn’t mean the sanctuary project is stopping — far from it. It just means I’m building it with those realities in mind. I have a plan, though it may take a bit longer to come to life.
For me, the sanctuary is more than just a project — it’s a place of recovery, resilience, and purpose. I want to create something I can be proud of, something that transforms struggle into strength. Over the years, I’ve learned what truly matters to my health: food, water, shelter, and support — the basic building blocks of survival.
So, here’s what I’ve got in mind:
🌿 An outdoor kitchen and fire area to keep us warm and well-fed
🌿 Growing wild edibles and foraging-friendly plants across the land
🌿 Building everything we can from repurposed and discarded materials
🌿 Exploring water collection methods and, yes — figuring out where the compost toilet will go so we don’t have to run home every time nature calls 🚽
I don’t know exactly how it’ll all look in the end, but I’m genuinely excited to find out. The idea of creating a sustainable, survival-focused community sanctuary really speaks to me — and I’d love to hear what you all think.
