👂 EVER WONDERED HOW YOUR EARS ACTUALLY WORK?

Hearing is something most of us take for granted until it starts to change.

This short video explains how sound travels through the ear and becomes the voices, music, and everyday sounds we love ❤️

⚠️ Hearing loss often happens gradually, so many people don’t notice it at first.

Common early signs include:

❓ Asking people to repeat themselves

📞 Difficulty on the phone

If any of these sound familiar, it may be time for a hearing check.

👂 DID YOU KNOW?

As we get older, hair can become more noticeable around the entrance of the ear canal.

This happens because hair follicles in areas like the ears and nose become more sensitive to androgen hormones (such as testosterone) over time. It’s a completely natural part of ageing, particularly in men.

It doesn’t mean anything is wrong.
It doesn’t mean hormone levels are dangerously high.
It’s simply how the body changes with age.

Understanding how the ear changes over time helps us better understand hearing health as a whole.

Hidden deep inside your ear is the smallest bone in your entire body and it’s shorter than a grain of rice 👂

This tiny structure is called the stapes, one of three bones in the middle ear known as the ossicles (malleus, incus and stapes).

Together, these bones form a delicate chain that transmits sound vibrations from the eardrum into the inner ear. The stapes is the final link in this chain, passing sound energy into the cochlea where it can be converted into nerve signals for the brain to interpret.

Despite measuring only around 3mm in length, the stapes plays a crucial role in hearing. Changes affecting its movement, such as stiffening in conditions like otosclerosis, can reduce how efficiently sound is transferred through the ear.

Understanding how the ear works helps explain why even very small changes can have a significant impact on hearing ability.
