Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

I am writing to you all to give you an update after yesterday’s announcement from the first minister regarding the lockdown for Wales.

Podiatry services are an essential medical appointment and therefore are exempt from closure during the upcoming lockdown in Wales.

Please rest assured that I’m operating as normal, following all the Covid safe regulations to ensure your appointments go ahead safely.
I continue to use the correct PPE, and will ask to take your temperature on your arrival to the clinic to ensure all of our safety.

Even shielding patients are able to safely access my services either at the clinic or at your home.

Please adhere to the covid guidance when you attend - use the hand gel provided (or wash your hands) and wear a mask for your appointment. Prior to your appointment if you feel unwell please do not attend your appointment and call me so I can rearrange your appointment for a later date.

I look forward to seeing you at your appointment & thanks for your support.

Podiatry & Chiropody service at Oaktree surgery is back in practice - since 3rd June 2020. Home visits are also allowed.

Permission to return to practice has now been given from our governing bodies: Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) & The College of Podiatry.

To ensure the safety of patients I have made a few changes to ensure the clinic environment is as safe as possible:

• Staggering appointments so patients are not in the waiting room at the same time.

* Alcohol hand sanitiser & handwashing offered to all patients.

• Patients waiting outside or in their car until their appointment is due.

• Additional PPE is being worn & free face masks are available for attending patients.

• Additional disinfecting of all surfaces and door handles between patients.

• Contactless payments available

Patient safety is paramount and something I take seriously. On a personal note I'm really happy to start to see my patients again, its been a strange time and I'm glad to see things start to get back to some sort of normal.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
Best wishes

You may have read that Australia and New Zealand have just had their worst flu season for many years. Our season follows on from theirs so it's a good indicator of what's to come.

Who should have the vaccination?
Those who are very young, over 65, pregnant or over 6 months old with an existing illness or health condition such as Asthma, diabetes or heart disease.
Speak to your local Doctors surgery.

Also health workers who come into contact with a lot of people - I've just had mine.

Wishing you and your families a healthy autumn / winter.
