15/07/2025
On Thursday the 17th of July 2025, Bridgend Group Practice will be switching to the Electronic Prescription Service. This is a free, secure NHS service and instead of printing and signing paper prescriptions, we will send them electronically to the pharmacy of your choice.
What does it mean for me?
It's easier. Your prescription no longer needs to be collected from the Surgery and taken to your pharmacy. It will be sent electronically.
It saves time. If you have a phone appointment with the Surgery, you wonβt have to come to the Surgery just to pick up the prescription. Your pharmacy will still need a little time to get your items ready, just as they do now.
It is safe and secure. Your prescription cannot get lost, as we can always see on our system where it is.
What do I need to do?
Speak to your pharmacy and tell them that you want to use electronic prescriptions. They will arrange this for you. You donβt need a computer, smartphone or laptop. Order your prescriptions in the usual way. The only change is that you will no longer get a green paper prescription. This reduction in paper will also help the environment.
