This week is Men’s Health Week and a great opportunity to encourage men in Wales to make appointments with their GPs if they are currently worrying about any signs or symptoms that could be cancer. The theme for this year’s Men’s Health Week is ‘Take Action on Covid-19”.

Macmillan Head of Partnerships in Wales, Richard Pugh, says: “The pandemic in Wales has left a worrying and lasting legacy on cancer care in our country as fewer people have been able to raise concerns over symptoms and this, compounded by delays in treatments, will mean poorer outcomes.

“I’d urge men not to ignore their health concerns but trust their instincts about their bodies and not to put off making an appointment with their GPs. There is nothing more important for you, and for the people that love you, than getting your symptoms checked out.

“Delays to both diagnosis and treatment for cancer have real consequences so it’s really important men feel confident to get the treatment and support they need.”

Being able to talk about it in a safe space is so important, if you need someone to talk to our online community is a place to share experiences with others in a similar situation. Or speak to someone on our support line which is open 8am – 8 pm 7 days a week. Macmillan is here to help so please call our Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Yr wythnos hon, mae’n Wythnos Iechyd Dynion. Mae’n gyfle gwych i annog dynion yng Nghymru i drefnu apwyntiadau gyda’u Meddygon Teulu os ydyn nhw’n pryderu ar hyn o bryd am unrhyw arwyddion neu symptomau a allai fod yn ganser. Thema Wythnos Iechyd Dynion eleni yw ‘Gweithredwch ar Covid-19’.

Dywed Richard Pugh, Pennaeth Partneriaethau yng Nghymru: “Mae’r pandemig yng Nghymru wedi gadael etifeddiaeth bryderus a pharhaus ar ofal canser yn ein gwlad.. Mae llai o bobl wedi gallu mynegi pryderon am symptomau ac mae hyn, ynghyd ag oedi mewn triniaethau, yn golygu deilliannau gwaeth.

“Byddwn yn annog dynion i beidio ag anwybyddu pryderon iechyd. Dylent ymddiried yn eu greddfau am eu cyrff a pheidio ag anwybyddu apwyntiadau gyda’u Meddygon Teulu. Nid oes unrhyw beth yn bwysicach i chi nac i’r bobl sy’n eich caru, na sicrhau eich bod yn cael eich archwilio.

“Gall oedi mewn diagnosis a thriniaeth canser esgor ar broblemau mawr. Felly, mae’n hynod bwysig i ddynion deimlo’n hyderus i gael y driniaeth a’r cymorth y maent eu hangen.

Mae gallu siarad am hyn mewn lle diogel mor bwysig. Os ydych am gael rhywun i siarad â nhw, mae ein cymuned ar-lein yn lle i rannu profiadau gydag eraill mewn sefyllfaoedd tebyg. Neu gallwch siarad â rhywun ar ein llinell gymorth sy’n agored 8am - 8 pm 7 diwrnod yr wythnos.
