Over the coming weeks we are going to feature some counsellor profiles to give you an insight into who works at The Well.

This week we introduce Becky Rigby. This is what she says about herself, "I am a BACP Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist. My aim is to offer a therapeutic experience that is safe, non-judgemental and accepting.

Life can be stressful, and many of us experience difficulties that leave us feeling confused and alone. Counselling can help and support you to explore these difficulties by offering you the opportunity to talk and share how you feel.

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues, including; loss and bereavement, trauma, abuse, dissociation, stress and anxiety, mental health issues, addictions, relationship issues, self-harm, anger management and low self-confidence.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I combine theory and techniques from a variety of approaches, such as, CBT, Psychodynamic and Humanistic/Existential and integrate them into an approach that is flexible and tailored to meet your specific needs or goals. For those who find talking about distressing issues difficult, I also offer the option to work creatively, using art materials or phototherapy techniques."

All along you were blooming ;thoughts for boundless living

Morgan Harper Nichols has 2 million followers () on Instagram. she is a Neurodivergent, Artist, Poet, and Graphic Designer.
Her work centres around communication and connection while “finding room to breathe in daily life “. She says she is driven by curiosity and empathy, and that comes across in this her first book .
Morgan collects stories shared with her online and transforms them into digestible, quotes and poems, that are vibrantly illustrated.
I found this book moving and uplifting in its authenticity and positive stance. She reminds us of hope in dark times and that
“ There is still room to grow in ways you were were meant to”

Here's the first review by Well founder Eryl Hulatt.

This eye opening book is is a roadmap for why we self-sabotage, when we do it and ideas to assist in stopping doing it .
The author provides insights around self sabotage, emotional intelligence, and the use of self-awareness to drive personal growth and change.
We the reader are encouraged to reclaim our personal power and are told it starts with our minds
“ what you believe about your life is what you will make true about your life”
I personally had a number of aha ! moments reading this book especially the idea that
“ self sabotage is simply the presence of an unconscious need that is being fulfilled by the self sabotaging behaviour”
Therefore we are encouraged to have compassion for ourselves and seek more functional and full-filling ways to meet that need , rather than berating and beating ourselves up . I found this particularly affirming to be reminded of.
The book is some times repetitive but definitely worth a read if you get frustrated with repeating destructive behaviours and are struggling to overcome the mountain that is yourself.

We are shortly going to be featuring brief reviews of books that we here at The Well have found not only useful in our work but also in our lives. We invite you to do the same if you wish.

Due to increased enquiries and referrals you may find that we have to place potential clients on a waiting list. Whilst this is far from ideal we really do not have any choice. Please be reassured that we will facilitate your therapy as soon as we can.
