If you are unsure about who is the right person to call in your pregnancy we've given some helpful tips below.

When to call your community midwifery team:
For non-urgent queries such as:
🔵Changing an appointment date/time
🔵Requesting paperwork e.g. Mat B1, FW8
🔵Lifestyle queries/advice e.g. diet, exercise, smoking, vitamins, etc.
Your midwife/midwifery team may not monitor their phone every day so you may wait a couple of days for a reply

When to call Somerset Triage Line (16 weeks+):
🔵You have concerns for you and/or your baby
🔵You have concerns about changes in your baby’s movements
🔵You think you might be in labour
🔵Any unusual pain or bleeding

For those based in Woolavington and Edington (as well as the surrounding areas), we have two health walks in partnership with Polden Medical Practice.

Both level 1 walks, which are flat or with gentle slopes and ideal for those able to complete 30 - 40 mins with minimal stops.

Edington walks are on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month, and Woolavington is on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday (meaning you can attend all 4 each month!) With both starting at 1:30pm.

These walks are of course free, giving you the chance to get to know your local community better, make friends and better your health whilst you’re at it!

Contact walks@sasp.co.uk or visit www.sasp.co.uk/health-walks

🌟 January Chill & Chat Dates 🌟

If you’re a parent or carer of a child with additional needs or disabilities (aged 0–25), come and join us for a warm cuppa and a friendly chat.

This is a relaxed space where you can:
• Meet other parents and carers
• Make new friends
• Share experiences, tips, and advice
• Ask questions or simply enjoy some company

🌟 No diagnosis needed, everyone is welcome. Plus, your first warm or soft drink is on us! ☕

You don’t need to have attended anything with us before or be on our database, just come along. We understand that going somewhere new for the first time can feel daunting. If that’s the case and you’d like to attend, please let us know, we’d be happy to support you.

Warm spaces are about so much more than keeping physically warm 💙

Yes, they’re a place you can go where it’s warm, maybe even somewhere you can turn the heating off at home for a few hours and save a bit of money. But in reality, warm spaces are about so much more than that.

They’re about company and conversation. About having somewhere to go, seeing friendly faces, sharing a cuppa, a chat, a laugh, or an activity. There’s no judgement at a warm space — everyone is welcome, whatever their reason for being there.

Winter can be a really difficult time. Days are shorter, people spend more time indoors, and many feel isolated or simply a bit bored. Warm spaces offer connection, purpose and something to look forward to.

I have ran a warm space for three consecutive winters in Bridgwater and saw some really special things happen — friendships forming, hobbies being shared, people finding confidence again, and connections that lasted well beyond the winter months. That sense of belonging really matters.

Across Bridgwater, there are now a number of warm, welcoming spaces open during the week, and we’ve pulled together a confirmed list of where and when they’re available.

If you, or someone you know, might benefit from a warm space this winter, please do take a look and feel free to share this post so it reaches those who may need it.
