Community Fund Update – 14:38 Friday 19th July

Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has donated, shared, reached out, or offered support in any way. The kindness, generosity, and compassion shown in the wake of this tragedy has been deeply moving.

As you can imagine, I have received an overwhelming number of messages β€” from those affected or related and from people wanting to help. I appreciate every single one. Please know that I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can β€” I’m doing my very best to keep on top of everything while making sure the right plans are being put in place to support those who need it most.

As of 14:36 on Friday 19th July, the total raised stands at Β£18,407 β€” and that number continues to grow. It’s beyond anything I could have imagined, and I cannot thank you all enough for helping make this possible.

Next Steps for the Fund Distribution:
Given the scale of the support and the number of people affected, I’ve been in contact with the team at GoFundMe to ensure the funds are distributed in the most transparent, fair, and accountable way possible. Based on their guidance, we are working towards a plan that will likely involve Somerset Community Foundation β€” a trusted organisation experienced in distributing emergency funds like this β€” working in partnership with the school involved in the crash.

While I’ve always preferred to act quickly and directly, I also fully understand and respect that, as GoFundMe rightly explained:

β€œIn order to authorise a third-party individual to receive money directly when there are multiple beneficiaries involved, we need to follow robust procedures to ensure those impacted have authorised the transfer decision. This, in itself, can take a little time.”

With that in mind, allowing Somerset Community Foundation to oversee distribution β€” in close coordination with the school β€” appears to be the fastest, most direct and most responsible way to ensure the money gets to those most in need, fairly and effectively.

That said, I want to make it very clear: I have already been contacted by a number of people and families who need support, and I will be doing everything I can to ensure their needs are heard. Anyone involved in the fund's administration will be made aware of these individuals, and I will do my best to ensure that they receive the help they need as quickly as possible.

Memorial Support
I also want to share that I hope a portion of this fund can go towards a memorial for the young boy who so tragically lost his life. I believe it’s important that something lasting and meaningful is created in his memory β€” something that shows how deeply the community cares. A small part of every donation could go towards making this happen, and in doing so, every supporter would have helped create something truly special in his honour.

I will continue to provide updates as this develops β€” thank you again for your trust, support, and compassion.

With heartfelt thanks,
Bobbie

Who We Are And What We Do

We are a social enterprise and we are launching a new and exciting service to the community of Bridgwater and surrounding areas of Sedgemoor.

Social enterprises reinvest the money they make back into their business or the local community. This allows them to tackle social problems, improve people’s life chances, support communities and help the environment. So when a social enterprise profits society profits.

As we are a non-profit organisation, any profits we make from our services which are then reinvested providing more services and not given to shareholders.
