My story, my experience of Reiki and why I wanted to study and become A Reiki practitioner.
Having suffered for a couple of years with an Auto immune condition called Hashimotos that has some horrible symptoms, some of which have been life changing and not in a positive way! I was desperate to help myself in anyway I could, the medication which I now have to take for the rest of my life was definitely not a cure and brought with it side effects to deal with alongside the symptoms of my condition. I tried many things including a number of lifestyle changes but I just wasn’t feeling as well as I wanted to feel; just so I could function ‘normally’ The exhausting fatigue the aches pains and general malaise was horrid and rapidly dragging me down with it, unseen by others so often not understood! Anyway upon doing some research I started to discover stories of people who had found help in Reiki for a variety of conditions including mine...I had nothing to lose, I had learnt through my studies that Reiki could only do good and do no harm so I booked in with a lovely practitioner and had my first treatment ....... WOW I couldn’t believe it, It was so relaxing, heavenly in fact and I left thinking if nothing else I had just experienced a lovely hour of complete relaxation, some ME time away from everything??
It didn’t stop there though, after the best nights sleep In a long time, in the days following my treatment something happened that made me feel incredible, I was driving along in my car and realised I was smiling and singing along to the radio...... such a small thing I know but it was so significant to me because for the first time in years I felt A bit like the old ME, it wasn’t an act or A brave face, it was natural I was so lifted and I felt amazing, and even just for that moment I was so grateful! Yet it continued and I felt so much brighter than I had in ages! I was not cured of course and I could feel when I was in need of another visit but life was bearable for the most part and I was definitely brighter .. I continued with more visits and continued to reap the benefits and in doing so I discovered a want/need to become a Reiki Practitioner to share this and help others feel the benefits that I know have made such a difference to my life.
