🎳Skittles at The Sycamores Care Home!🎳

Last Friday was full of laughter, friendly competition, and a few strikes as we enjoyed a lively game of indoor skittles! It was the perfect mix of fun and gentle exercise, with lots of cheering, encouragement, and some impressive bowling skills on display.👏🎳

The ladies won overall, getting a high score than the gents - Girl Power!💪💃

🏡Community Open Day at Rastrick Hall and Grange Care Home🏡

This week, we opened our doors for a fantastic Open Day as part of ! Residents and visitors enjoyed a lovely afternoon filled with music, smiles, and great company, with a special performance from a talented singer to keep everyone entertained! 🎤💃

🏡✨ A Week in the Life at Figham House Care Home! ✨🏡

Ever wondered what a week in a care home looks like for your loved one? Here’s a little glimpse into last week at Figham House! 💛

We started with not one, but two uplifting church services. A big thank you to Churches All Together and the Latimer Church Group. Our residents always enjoy singing along to the hymns.🎶

Chair-based exercises brought lots of smiles and a few competitive moments as we tossed the ball around. Jack had a great time, especially with Les' daughter who we managed to rope into the fun! Michelle, our Activities Coordinator, even admitted a few residents were much better at catching than she was!👏🏐

Walks to the beck and the local shop added a breath of fresh air. Pam admired the wildflowers, while Margaret treated Mick and Michelle to some cheeky chocolate! 🍫🌼🚶‍♀️

Mick had a trip down memory lane thanks to an old map shared by Sarah, our manager. He was full of stories about the towns and villages he recognised, and was amazed by the size of Hull docks!🗺️

And of course, what’s a week without a birthday? Happy Birthday to Steve! 🎉 There was plenty of cake to go around, which let’s be honest, is the best part of birthdays!🎂

🎨🌸Arts and Crafts at Cantley Grange Care Home!🌸🎨

Residents got hands-on making beautiful summer flower pictures last week! Using cut-out handprints to look like they were holding a bouquet, and creatively using egg cartons as the flowers, we crafted the perfect floral display!✂️🖐️💐

Our residents were so proud of their final pictures, and they look fantastic hung up on the wall. What a fun and creative way to welcome the summer season!

🍷🧀 Cheese, Wine & Good Times at The Sycamores Care Home! 🧀🍷

Our Thursday afternoon Cheese & Wine Club is still going strong, almost a whole year since our very first gathering! Last week was no exception, with residents gathering once again for an afternoon of delicious cheeses, a glass of wine, tasty nibbles, music, singing, and plenty of laughter.🎶😄

Lynne also took the chance to hold a relaxed residents’ meeting, and as always, the friendly atmosphere helped everyone feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas. 💬❤️

🎨✨Card-Making at Highfield Care Centre!✨🎨

We had a lovely arts and crafts session last week! Niki brought in her fabulous card-making machine and a whole collection of fun cut-outs – everyone got to choose their own unique designs and let their imagination run wild!🌈✂️

With music playing in the background, plenty of tea and coffee, and tasty snacks to nibble on, it was the perfect afternoon of creativity and great conversations.

🥓🧀Budding Bakers at Maple Lodge Care Home!🧀🥓

Last week, the dining room was filled with delicious smells as some of our residents rolled up their sleeves to make homemade cheese and bacon turnovers for tea!👩‍🍳🥰

We started by rolling out puff pastry and cutting it into neat little squares, then added tasty layers of cheese and bacon before folding the corners over into parcels. We then handed them over to our amazing chef to bake to golden perfection. Come tea time, the whole home tucked into the turnovers, and they were a hit!

The group said making tea for everyone made them feel proud and useful. What a wonderful way to share good food and great company!💖🥰

💛💙Leeds United Lovebirds at Foresters Lodge Care Home!💙💛

Our lovely residents Beryl & Gerald were beaming with pride as they showed off their fabulous new Leeds United shirts!⚽️

These two have been loyal Whites supporters for their entire married life. Gerald says, “It was always Leeds Utd in our house. It used to be a get-together for all the family!” And Beryl added, “Supporting Leeds Utd was just the thing to do when I met Gerald, I wanted to share in his passion for something that is special to him, and it’s something we have always done together. It is special to us.”🥰

Now, with the support of our wonderful care team at Foresters Lodge, they still enjoy cheering on their team on match days. It's always fun to hear the banter coming from the lounge when Leeds are playing!😄📣

🎉 Happy Birthday, Mo! 🎉

Staff and residents at Maple Lodge pulled off a lovely surprise for our wonderful resident Mo with a garden BBQ to celebrate her special day!

The sun was shining, the music was playing, and all our residents gathered for a fun-filled afternoon of food, drinks, and laughter.

Mo was over the moon and told our team she’d had “the best day ever!”

And just when she thought the surprises were over, a personalised birthday cake was brought out as everyone sang Happy Birthday to her! 🎂🎈

🧠🎲Memory Games at Foresters Lodge!🎲🧠

We had a fun-filled afternoon of brain-boosting games and plenty of laughter here at Foresters Lodge! First up was our Pairs Game—residents each picked a card and had to find their perfect match. From salt & pepper to hat & scarf, some pairings were trickier than others, but with a bit of teamwork and encouragement, the group nailed it!👒🧣

Next, we dived into our Reminiscing Game—a bit like "Have You Ever?" where we picked a topic and shared stories, memories, and lots of smiles. 🗣️💬

These games are a brilliant way to spark memories, boost conversation, and bring everyone together. Judging by the laughter in the room, we think it was a big hit!💖
