You may have seen media reports about confirmed cases of invasive meningococcal disease in Kent.

It is important to be aware of the symptoms of meningitis - a serious condition where the protective layers around the brain and spinal cord become inflamed.

You can find trusted information on the NHS website, including signs and symptoms: https://orlo.uk/O08mH

The MenACWY vaccine helps protect against life-threatening illnesses like meningitis and sepsis. It is offered as a routine NHS vaccine in secondary school, but can be given up to the age of 25 if it has been missed.
Our East Riding in-school vaccination provider Vaccination UK offered this vaccine along with the Td/IPV vaccine (3-in-1 teenage booster) over the last half term, normally to those in Year 9 (age 13 to 14).

If your teen missed their in-school clinic you can take them to a community catch-up clinic over Easter: https://orlo.uk/0m9ye
Catch-up clinics will also be offered in our schools over the summer term, following the HPV vaccines this half term. Call the team: (01482) 453 690 or email: hullandeastriding@vaccinationuk.co.uk

⚠️ Medicines recall: Ramipril 5 mg Capsules (Crescent Pharma Limited)

One batch of Ramipril 5 mg Capsules is being recalled as a precaution after a packaging error.

This follows reports from a pharmacy that a pack labelled Ramipril 5 mg Capsules (Batch GR164099) incorrectly contained blister strips of Amlodipine 5 mg Tablets inside the sealed carton.

If you take Ramipril, check the packaging of your medicine for batch number GR164099. If your pack contains blister strips labelled “Amlodipine”, return it to your pharmacist.

The risk to patients of the accidental substitution of one widely used blood pressure medication for another is low. The most likely side effect would be dizziness related to low blood pressure.

If you have concerns about your medication or experience any suspected side effects, speak to your pharmacist or another healthcare professional. Patients and healthcare professionals can also report suspected side effects via our Yellow Card scheme.

Get your flu vaccination today at West Hill Chemist Bridlington.

Flu cases are higher than they have ever been at this time of year.

An average of 2,660 patients per day were in a hospital bed with flu last week. That’s enough flu patients each day to fill more than 3 whole hospital trusts.

If you haven’t already, and you’re eligible, get your flu vaccine.

The flu jab reduces your risk of becoming seriously ill this Christmas, and helps protect those around you.

Book via your GP, pharmacy or the NHS App.
