🐣🌷 Easter Joy at Shipley Manor Care Home! 🌷🐣

🎶 Easter Visitors with Hirst Wood Nursery
We were delighted to continue our wonderful relationship with Hirst Wood Nursery by hosting a very special Easter get-together. The day was filled with singing, story time, and laughter across the generations. The Easter egg hunt was a real highlight, with residents joining in the fun by hiding along the corridors in bunny ears and handing out buckets of Easter surprises to the children! 🐰🥚

The children kindly gifted Easter eggs to our residents in return, and a special visit from the Easter Bunny himself added even more magic to the day! Our talented Head Chef prepared delicious cupcakes and juice for the children, rounding off a lovely day. 🧁

🧺 Easter Crafts
Our residents have also been busy getting creative making beautiful Easter baskets. With a little help from the Easter Bunny, each basket was thoughtfully crafted with care. Well done to all involved, they look fantastic🌷🥚

🎉🏆 Competition Winners! 🏆🎉

Congratulations to Castle Grange Care Home on being named our March competition winners! 👏

Entries this month were judged on creativity, inclusivity and performance, with homes tasked with creating a poem alongside residents. Castle Grange stood out with a thoughtful and imaginative piece inspired by Scarborough and seaside memories.

Residents and staff worked together using visual prompts, gathering photographs of Scarborough and presenting them in a simple format. Each line of the poem was paired with an image, and residents were invited to hold and share a line for a photograph, creating a truly engaging and meaningful group activity.

Well done Castle Grange on a fantastic submission! 🌟

🐟🌞 A Trip to the Pond with St Mary's Chanterlands Care Home 🌞🐟

The activity team took a group of residents out to make the most of the beautiful spring sunshine with a lovely walk to the local Koi pond. 🐟

Residents enjoyed feeding the fish and sharing plenty of laughs. After a relaxing outing, it was time to head back to the home for a well-earned cup of tea and a slice of cake. A lovely way to spend the day! ☕🍰

🐣 Fluffy New Arrivals at St Mary’s Lodge 🐣

We’ve had some very special new arrivals here at St Mary’s Lodge! Our little chicks joined us as eggs on 30th March, and started hatching in early hours of 1st April. One by one they hatched, with all 10 making a safe and successful arrival by midnight! 🥚🎉

We’re now have 4 brown girls and 6 yellow boys, all happily settling into their cosy brooder box, filling the home with the sweetest little cheeps. Our residents have loved watching them grow day by day, and now they’re big enough, it’s time for some gentle chick cuddles. 🥰🐣

Everyone has been getting involved in helping to care for them, making it a special shared experience for all. It’s safe to say these tiny bundles of fluff have brought a lot of joy into our home. 🐥💕

🌸 Blossoming Friendships at St Mary's Chanterlands Care Home 🌸

Our activities team have been weaving a little matchmaking magic lately. Michelle and Sarah had a feeling that two of our residents would hit it off, so they made it happen! A sunny trip to the local pub was the perfect setting to introduce Sally and Lynda. Before long, the laughter was flowing, stories were being shared, and it was clear they had lots in common. A lovely afternoon full of great conversation!🍹☀️

The friendship continued to bloom later in the week with a relaxing Nails and Natter session. The ladies enjoyed being pampered, showing off their beautiful manicures, and enjoyed plenty more chatting and giggling! 💅✨

Dorothy and Kathleen R have also become firm friends thanks to a thoughtful introduction by Michelle. Bonding over their shared experiences and love of a good natter, the pair are now often found together. 😊

These blooming friendships are a wonderful reminder that it’s never too late to make new friends. 🌷

🌼 Lots of Fun at St Mary’s Care Centre 🌼

It’s been a lovely mix of music, movement, and meaningful moments here at St Mary’s Care Centre. 🥰

🎶 Ukulele Band Visit
We were delighted to welcome a new u3a ukulele band who joined us for an hour of live music and singing. Residents recognised many of the songs and happily joined in. It was wonderful to hear everyone singing along together! As a token of appreciation, our chef prepared some delicious buns for the group, which went down a treat. 🍰

🏐 Exercise & Games Session
We also welcomed a guest to lead a gentle exercise session. Residents started with stretches, then used soft balls to help with further movement of the arms, hands, legs, and feet. This was followed by a fun game of getting balls into a bowl as fast as possible, which was a lively activity that everyone thoroughly enjoyed! We’re already looking forward to having him back again. Later in the evening, residents relaxed with a game of Scrabble. ✏️

✝️ Easter Service & Bonnet Parade
The vicar visited to lead an Easter session, where residents sang hymns, shared prayers, and received a blessing or communion. At the same time, we held our Easter bonnet parade. Congratulations to Pat, who took first place, and Cynthia, who came second, with the vicar kindly helping to choose the winner!👒
