Working by the fire to keep warm this frosty, damp January.
It was lovely having my girls home for Christmas. I dropped the second one off at train station on Monday, and now they are gone for a while again.
I have just been reflecting on our roots. How we’re made… all the millions of building blocks that make us into who we are.
I’ve also been doing some new year clearing and couldn’t help myself from taking a moment to open these children’s books that are on my shelves. The ones I once read my daughters when they were the age they were in that first picture. These books and times reading them, are some of the building blocks. My daughter’s and mine.
I love these books and they will stay on my shelves forever, but maybe even though my girls are grown up now, I should take the time to look at them and read them more. They are rich in life messages, nostalgia, and the artwork can draw you into a daydream.
I want to dive deep into the roots of my practice this year, as deep as the wintery roots in the illustrations of these story books, and bring up all the nourishing goodness that is there for all those that I work with.

As this season drops away to the winter, I just want to make some space and give real reverence to the autumn.
The light as the green changes to gold,
How even the fallen look so alive and beautiful, part of everything.
Watching the fall, being aware of the fall is such a core part the change.
I love the sound of the crunch of colour beneath my feet.
The veins of the leaves like pathways to the summer gone past and the winter ahead.
The veins of the leaves like the veins of my (getting older) hands.
My hands that will help reach connections in bodies.
Oh my goodness, sometimes I just can’t believe that pinky orange exists.

Thankyou beautiful autumn for reminding me of the bountiful bond between loss and love… grief and joy… They all hold veiny hands and crunch right together.

Finished with my clients in Bristol, and nipped to Greenbank Cemetery for an hour before going to do the radio show.
