Bridport FC Announce new Football Director
Bridport, Dorset - Bridport Football Club is thrilled to announce the
appointment of David Richardson as our new Football Director (voluntary
role). David, a highly experienced professional fitness coach and sports scientist, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our club.
With an illustrious career spanning 30 plus years, David has made significant contributions to the world
of sports and fitness. A veteran of the Army Physical Training Corps and a remedial rehab specialist, David has consistently demonstrated his commitment to excellence in fitness coaching. He comes well recommended from well regarded professionals in football, a testament to his dedication to the field.
In 1995, David opened the UK’s first specialist Personal Training Centre, setting a precedent for
personalised fitness training across the nation. His impressive career includes pivotal roles at eleven
professional football clubs, from the Premier League to the Conference, showcasing his versatility and expertise.
David’s tenure includes notable stints at Blackburn Rovers, Crystal Palace, Portsmouth, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, and more. He has also served as a fitness coach for Great Britain’s Judo team for eight
years, British Superbikes for six years, and professional boxing for six years. His experience extends to
clubs like Dagenham &Redbridge and Luton Town, and most recently, he contributed to the success of Kerala Blasters.
In addition to his extensive work with football clubs, David has been a fitness coach to countless
Olympic and professional athletes, underscoring his ability to elevate performance at the highest levels of sport.
Chairman of Bridport Football Club, Adrian Scadding, expressed his excitement about David’s appointment: “We are incredibly fortunate to have David join our team. His vast experience, knowledge, and passion for Performance, fitness and rehabilitation wil be invaluable as we continue to develop and strengthen our club and all our teams. Through medical rehabilitation, geriatric conditioning and personal fitness I treat injuries and alleviate pain - reducing injury through exercise, movement and manual based therapeutic interventions.

As well as treating injuries in the elite sports world, I treat people with every day occupational injuries, pain and muscular skeletal conditions that affect the joints, bones and muscles.

Strength training is not just for bodybuilders, athletes and those recovering from injury. It has immense benefits for anyone, whatever your fitness goals might be.

Hello 👋 I'm David Richardson, a Sports Rehabilitation, Personal Fitness and Geriatric Conditioning Coach based in Puncknowle, Bridport and the surrounding areas.

For more than 30 years I've helped people all over the world recover from injury, achieve and maintain their fitness- from Olympians and Premiership Football Clubs - as well as anyone who has simply suffered from an occupational hazard or deals with musculoskeletal conditions.

I train a great bunch of people, at my rehabilitation and conditioning practice at my home in the Bride Valley, helping people recover from injury, or just simply lose weight and get fit.

This gentleman had multiple fractures to his lower leg.

He was told he’d only walk with a stick... and now he’s now an Ironman.

Running backwards uphill helps align his knee cap and build all the surrounding muscles 💪🏼

At times like this, it’s nice to hear some good news... so here’s some from me:

This is a total ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) repair, and after three weeks, this young lady is well in advance of the normal rehabilitation times 👏🏼

This is because - pre-operation work was done to its maximum, meaning the recovery time is has been much quicker.

Which means a very happy Dave 😊

Did you know that, through Sports Rehabilitation you can recover from and prevent injury and reduce pain while still keeping fit?

In some cases it may even help you to avoid having an operation.

And the need for sports rehabilitation isn’t always directly caused by an injury that has occurred from sport... occupational habits can also be a huge factor; sitting at your desk all day, over use of a mobile phone, heavy lifting without using your core - the list goes on.

After a new hip, severed quadriceps from the patellar tendon, and a gastrocnemius (calf) rupture on the same leg 😱 the best way to rehab is to train.

Now this this fella is playing golf no problem and has extensions through the back.
