Long hot summer days aren't warmly received by everyone. For those who live with chronic pain, blue skies, humid days, sunshine and lots of seasonal activities may be a recipe for worsened symptoms.
Why does this happen?
1.One suggestion that it's all down to the expansion and contraction of our veins and other tissues in response to changing temperatures.
In hot weather, our veins dilate, helping to regulate our body temperature by moving more of our blood to just below surface of our skin, where it can cool down.
This can mean lots of internal changes for people with pain conditions.
2.Also temperature and humidity level can change the level or thickness of synovial fluids that fills our joints. Our joints start feeling like they can't move as well or they're stiff.
3.In the summertime many of us have more active lifestyles, from getting outdoors for a spot of gardening to frolicking with friends and family.
All this fun, like standing for long period at BBQ, sitting on blanket at picnics, taking long walks along the beach isn't always good news for the body unfortunately.
4. Poor sleep on hot, sticky night has also been linked to increased pain severity for those with chronic pain.
How do beat the heat?
Don't let chronic pain put your hot weather plans on ice.
Plan ahead and invest in equipment that will help you make the most of hot weather without joints and muscles pain.
Perhaps purchasing a sturdy fold out chair with appropriate support at BBQ or picnic.
It may be wise to choose trainers which provide adequate support for your back, knees, legs and reduce risk of accidents.
And a very regular Holistic treatment!!!
Reflexology and Massage increases blood flow around the body, which promotes a healing response as fresh blood carries fresh nutrients and help deliver synovial fluids to the areas which lubricates the joints. Also flashing away swelling, which can cause restriction in the joints.
