Over the past few weeks we’ve opened the door a little and shown the people who make up Quarry Bank Medical Centre.

But a surgery is never just the people who work inside it.

It’s the community around it — the families who have trusted us for years, the new patients joining us, the neighbours who stop to say hello, and the shared belief that good healthcare should sit at the heart of a community.

Our team comes to work each day with a simple purpose: to care for people well and to keep improving how we do it. That means strengthening services, expanding what we can offer locally, and making sure patients continue to receive the support they need close to home.

To everyone who is already part of the Quarry Bank family, thank you for the trust you place in us.

And to anyone in the community looking for a practice rooted in care, compassion and community spirit, our doors remain open.

Because in the end, a community practice is built on something simple — people looking after people.

And we’re proud to be part of that here in Quarry Bank.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been sharing posts about the many people who make up the team at Quarry Bank Medical Centre. I wanted to take a moment to say something a little different — not about one individual, but about the practice and the community around it.

General practice works because of the people behind it. Our clinicians, reception team, administrative staff, PCN colleagues and visiting professionals all bring their skills, care and patience to the surgery every single day. Much of what they do happens quietly and often without recognition.

As Practice Manager, my role is simply to support that team and help ensure the practice continues to run safely and smoothly so they can focus on caring for patients.

I feel very fortunate to work alongside such a dedicated group of people, and even more fortunate to serve a community that has trusted this surgery for generations.

On behalf of all of us here at Quarry Bank Medical Centre, thank you to our patients and our local community for the trust you place in us. It is something we value deeply and never take for granted.

Every week at Quarry Bank Medical Centre, some of the most important moments in people’s lives are quietly supported in our midwife clinic.

Our midwives are the guiding hands for so many families in the community — offering care, reassurance and expert support throughout pregnancy. From the first appointments through to preparing families for the arrival of their babies, they provide a trusted and compassionate network for expectant parents.

Over the past year the clinic has moved from Mondays to Fridays, but one thing has never changed: the quality of care and dedication they bring to every appointment.

We like to think of them as our “mama-to-be magicians” — supporting families through one of life’s most exciting and important journeys.

We are incredibly fortunate to continue hosting this service at the practice. Being able to access pregnancy care within your own local surgery is a real benefit for our patients and something we are very proud to offer.

Muscles, joints and movement problems are some of the most common reasons people contact their GP. Having expert support within the practice makes a real difference for patients — and at Quarry Bank Medical Centre we are delighted to have Gbemisola, our First Contact Practitioner (FCP) Physiotherapist.

Gbemisola is part of the Primary Care Network team and is our newest addition to the practice. As an MSK specialist, she helps assess and manage problems affecting the muscles, joints and spine, often providing advice, exercises and treatment plans that help patients recover and stay active.

In the short time she has been with us, Gbemisola has already made a huge impact by helping us increase access for patients with musculoskeletal problems, allowing people to be seen quickly by someone with the right expertise from the very start.

She brings not only exceptional clinical knowledge — truly a mechanics-of-the-body superstar — but also a warm, caring and patient-centred approach that people immediately feel comfortable with.

We are absolutely delighted to have Gbemisola as part of the Quarry Bank team, and our patients are already benefiting greatly from the expertise and kindness she brings to the role.

A strong general practice depends on clinicians who combine skill with genuine compassion. At Quarry Bank Medical Centre, Anne, our Physician Associate, is a wonderful example of that.

Anne works with us on Wednesdays as part of the Primary Care Network (PCN) team, supporting patients alongside a supervising GP. Physician Associates play an important role in modern general practice by assessing patients, following up on care plans created by GPs and other clinicians, and helping ensure patients receive timely reviews and ongoing support.

Anne also helps with home visits for patients who are unable to attend the surgery, helping us extend care to those who need it most. By doing this work she helps increase access to appointments, ensuring more patients can be seen and supported.

What truly stands out about Anne, however, is the person behind the role. She has worked incredibly hard to get to where she is today, and she brings a huge heart, warmth and dedication to everything she does. Patients and colleagues alike recognise the care she brings to the job.

Anne continues to grow and develop her role, always focused on improving the support she can give to patients — and she is genuinely invaluable to the team.

Not every health concern begins with medication or a clinical test. Sometimes people simply need the space to talk, reflect, and find the right support. That is where roles like Listening and Guidance Practitioners make a real difference.

At Quarry Bank Medical Centre, we are fortunate to have Ellie, who works with us through the Primary Care Network (PCN) to support patients in exactly this way. Her role focuses on listening to patients, understanding what challenges they may be facing, and helping guide them towards the right support, whether that is within healthcare services or the wider community.

Ellie brings a genuinely positive, calm and uplifting presence to the surgery. She takes time with people, listens without judgement, and helps patients feel heard and supported — something that can make a huge difference when someone is navigating difficult circumstances.

Although Ellie is part of the PCN team, our patients at Quarry Bank can still benefit from her support while she is working within the practice.

If you feel you might benefit from speaking with Ellie, please speak to one of our reception team who will be happy to help arrange this for you.

Primary care is increasingly about supporting people to stay well, not just treating illness. That is where roles like Dietitians in Primary Care Networks make a real difference.

At Quarry Bank Medical Centre, we are fortunate to have Lesley, our PCN Dietitian, who works with us on Tuesdays supporting patients with a wide range of nutritional and lifestyle needs. Whether it’s weight management, diabetes support, digestive issues, or helping patients understand how food can influence their health, Lesley provides practical, evidence-based guidance that helps people make sustainable changes.

Patients often comment on how calm, reassuring and approachable she is. She takes the time to listen, explain things clearly, and work with people to find realistic solutions that fit their lives.

Having specialist dietetic support within primary care is incredibly valuable for local communities. It allows patients to access expert advice earlier, often preventing problems from escalating and helping people take control of their health in a positive and supportive way.

We’re very lucky to have Lesley as part of the wider team supporting our patients at Quarry Bank — she really is fantastic at what she does.
