Want to stand out.. be that person who genuinely looks for the good in others… The majority of people we meet, particularly in a business environment will be looking to compete against others, will be looking for weaknesses in other people to better themselves, will be hatching a game plan, have hidden intentions, will be looking for ways to make themselves heard, to sell themselves make themselves look clever and important, it is a noisy, competitive, brutal world if you choose to play it this way … or you could choose to play your own game.. one where you concentrate on what is good and look for the good in people and commit to figuring out how to bring out more of the good in the people around you.. that will make you different from the majority of people in the room.. I guarantee you 99% of people are playing the other game! This is a quiet game though.. one you must do you because it gives you genuine joy and pleasure.. try it yourself and just watch what happens! ❤️

In my “brain gym” Spartannn, the first enquiry I often get asked is if the 1-1 mental fitness personal training (MFPT) sessions involve physical exercise.. this is because the promotional video is filmed from the boxing club I work out of. Just to confirm, there is no physical exercise involved in an MFPT, I work from a quiet private room upstairs in the club, I also do many sessions online.

What I do is train people in mental exercises to improve their brain fitness. In a nutshell the brain is fit when it has a good resilience against the stress of life and is performing in a positive and adaptive way.

Free consultation and £25 a session after that, look forward to hearing from you if you’re interested.

Daily reminder… if you want to feel better, be happier and get your brain to perform better… lower your expectations! 😂 seriously! This really helps! So often we create the struggle and the drag ourselves because we expect too much of the day, of ourselves of others.. why are we carrying this excess weight or making a situation harder than it needs to be?! I was brutally reminded of this only a few days ago when I was expecting all 3 of my boys to get along and be happy that they’re being taken out for the day… what was I thinking! Since then I’ve tried to lower my expectations considerably… for now, a day without a fight and a few hours off the screen is a win! What does a win look like for you?! .. don’t forget to make sure it’s realistic!! 😁

A “psychological injury” aka a knock to your ego, your confidence, something happened that didn’t make you feel good, you didn’t like.. ouch, or maybe a more significant injury… getting rejected or failing at something, or even more severe.. feeling shame. Just like with physical fitness, the fitter we are the quicker our bodies are able to recover without any long lasting damage. The fitter our brains are, the quicker we are able to bounce back following a psychological injury.

We CANT do anything we want if we put our mind to it… I CANT walk through this wall, no matter how hard I try, I can never be the fastest person in the world no matter how hard I want it, I can’t make it as a professional singer no matter how many lessons I have and how good my mom tells me I am! This is a GOOD thing by the way.. as amazing as our brains are, there ARE limitations, we all only have so much time, we only have so much energy, our brains can only process so much at one time, knowing quickly with certainty when you CANT do something is very useful in life and will save you a lot of wasted energy! ALSO even though you can’t do anything you put your mind to… there is ALWAYS something your CAN do, and that’s the lane to get in to get your brain to perform better.

Chronic depression (over 2 years) results in atrophy of the pre-frontal cortex, from basically it being underused .. this is why it takes enormous effort to do the smallest task like cleaning your room. Trying to overcome depression and rebuild the strength of the PFC back up takes time, many people suffer needlessly because their expectations are too high on what they can achieve…. (Or their employers expectations are too high!) If you had no muscle tone and never weight lifted before, you wouldn’t expect yourself to be able to lift the heaviest weight straight away! Why don’t we approach mental health recovery the same way?

No wrong answer here, but ‘A’ tends to be how the majority of us are raised. ‘A’ is also the hardest route. ‘B’ on the other hand is easy and good fun. Which do you want more of in your life?

This also sums up the difference between therapy and brain fitness PT. Again, no wrong answer, but surely the path that takes less effort and is enjoyable should be the right path? Isn’t life meant to be easy?
