A beautiful spring start today Awakening the Mother Garden. Moving into our 3rd Year with the Growing Land Connections project. This year we are focusing on the 3rd Permaculture ethic, Fair Share. Helping to create new Growing spaces and new growers

We were gifted pansy seedlings and an abundance of generous hard work. Weeding, pricking out, watering, potting on and planting.

We gifted Rhubarb to new plotholders at Hawbush and our wonderful friend Deb

This year we are supporting to rejuvenate the site, starting with planting some saplings from the around the pond.

After a tasty lunch with fresh spring salads from the polytunnel we gathered on the community kitchen garden plot and in the willow dome to discuss how to grow willow for basketry and living willow structures (fedges and domes) . We talked about the conditions willow thrives in and which types are suited to what task.

We had a look at some 4 year old leaf mold baskets which are now being used as bug habitat and in place composting systems.

We wove willow birdfeeders and learnt how to create a willow obelisk, chatted about the up and downsides of using green willow and using willow alongside Hazel, bamboo and other foraged wood to create fencing and gates.

With thanks to and our wonderful workshop attendees who helped create a beautiful atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable day

Yesterday we enjoyed a beautiful crisp and sunny morning under the roundhouse exploring Viking Knitting.

We sat round the campfire, drank lemon balm tea and chatted about our Black Country chain making heritage. Some beautiful wirework pieces were created.

Many thanks to for making this workshop possible

First weekend this year for our reclaim our roots project! Lovely reconnection talking all things spring and air! We made a cleavers and chickweed hydrosol in our beautiful new Alembic still and tasted fresh juiced cleavers and various hydrosols. We had gifts of lemon balm and cedar smudge smoke and enjoyed reminiscing over last year through the beautiful zine designed and created by our dear friend Claire x

Hooray the Village kitchen is back in the woods! We had a massive turn out and welcomed new faces! We foraged for nettles and made a spring green pesto, planted garlic 🧄 chatted and made friends. Someone said they had been wanting to build the courage to come for a while and were so glad they did, as it felt like therapy! Being in the greening woods, in the sun 🌞 and with great company and food. If you’ve been feeling the same, know you’re welcome to pop along! We take Foodbank staples and turn them into masterchef quality food with the addition of wild and grown greens. Drop in Thursday mornings 10-12pm … life is better when we’re together!
