Little spot of housekeeping 🙃

We all forget things sometimes so this is just a little reminder to help keep things fresh in people's minds.

Appointments, I am pretty much fully booked now until the end of June.
So if I have messaged you with an appointment please get back to me asap as its first come first serve.
If you need to reschedule please let me know as soon as possible I have a list of people who would like Appointments ASAP but I have limited space.

As most of you know I have been using Equicantis for all my session reports, exercise plans and email reminders.
This has been working really well but please remember emails come from
noreply@equicantismail.com so mark this as safe in your inbox so it doesnt go in your junk folder or get blocked.

Email reminders are sent out 3 days before your appointment, they come from the above email, but they are just that a reminder. Please please 🙏 mark your Appointments in your own calendar technology is great but its not perfect.

Payment, this is expected at the time of the appointment please dont make me chase you for this. I work very hard to provide you all with an excellent service but to also keep a roof of my head and feed my family.
The same with cancellation fees its not something I like to charge but I am a small business and if you only gove me 15 mins notice of cancelling and appointment I have no way to fill that space in that time so yes a cancellation fee will be charged. Its in my terms and conditions like many small businesses.
I dont like charging it, but if I didn't it would have a huge impact on my business. I haven't raised my prices despite the cost of fuel because I want to keep bodywork affordable so I have absorbed the cost where many others haven't. All I ask is that payments are made on time 🙏

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of you keeping me so busy and to everyone who does pay on time and has never grumbled about a cancellation fee you are the ones who keep me afloat and make this little business of mine so sucessful. Without you this wouldnt work 😘

So thats all folks and back to pretty pictures of happy horses and owners tomorrow 😄

Lets talk about topline .........

Good topline doesnt come from feed or more exercise! Yep I said it 😬

Good topline comes from, postural strength, coordination, the right exercises targeting and progressively loading the thoracic sling and core.

If your horses thoracic sling, core muscles and deep stabilisers such as the multifidus are weak, comprismised or restricted your horse will struggling to build topline. They may feel heavier in front, struggle to engage their hind end, work hollow and feel restricted through their back.

Horses can lose topline after time off but they can also lose topline whilst in work. If your horse is losing topline, it can indicate where a problem is and what part of the system we need to strengthen and build.

This is one reason I am a huge fan of groundwork exercises even when there isn't an issue or long after rehab has finished. Its a way to help look after and maintain thorasic sling/core strength and mobility 💪.

Topline isn't built solely on riding more, its built with better correct movement, slow and steady progressive loading.

The whole horse approach 🥰

I had a lovely conversation with a long standing client today it centered around her horses rehab and who's been involved and where we are and where we are going.

In brief it was about how all of us have worked as a team to help her horse and her through this injury, in short its been a whole horse approach.

No single professional would have been able to bring about the outcome we are getting. Its taken each one of us the vet, the bodyworker, the farrier and then in turn the saddle fitter, coach and dentist to piece together this horses rehab, each doing our own piece of the puzzle for a better, stronger outcome.

Alone we are all good at what we do, but together we create a well balanced team all doing our part for your horses health. No single professional holds all the answers for horses health and performance.

We are better together 💪

For this horse in question, each part of his team all said by summer you will be back onboard back doing what you both love. At the time, the owner was quite rightly worried but also sceptical when we said this, today shes 3 months into her rehab back ok board and her horse is going from strength to strength.

Each part of his care has been carefully crafted from the vet with diagnosis and treatment, to me looking after his muscles, strength and mobility so when he came back to work we were starting right, to his farrier making sure he was trimmed and balance to give him the right support from the hoof up.

Looking at every aspect of our horse health and working with a team af professionals ensures you cover all basis whether its for maintenance or when the unthinkable happens a whole horse approach is important.

The pole straddle

I love this exercise but its by no means easy. What I love more is not the end result its how working towards the end result helps your horse.

When I give people this exercise to try many come back and say they can't do it, they can get the front legs either side but not the back or the horse starts well but then steps out. And then they give up 😬

Its taken me months to be able to get Breeze to stand with all 4 legs either side of the pole and we can manage a few controlled strides like this now but its been months of slow steady work.

Why did I choose this exercise, after Breeze's lameness issues, she had some compensation patterns that had established, 1 was her right hind was not always tracking straight but tending to come under and across. When riding due to this she felt a little wonky and my saddle was slipping slightly.

Que some groundwork, and the pole straddle this exercise has aided her propreception simply by trying to get her legs either side of the pole, she has had to move from one side to the other engage those hind legs a tad more but because of the pole shes been more aware of where she has placed that hind. Left hind was never an issue it always landed to one side of the pole the right has moved sides, been on the pole and eventually on the right side. The whole time while practising this exercise I can see Breeze's brain working and sorting out where her body and legs need to be. And slowly but surely shes starting to move straighter, weight bare more evenly and is now cracking this exercise more times than shes not.

These exercises aren't just about rushing through them, its about assessing, adjusting, rebalancing and slow repetition to help build and increase strength.

How many of your rush through your in hand exercises? And how many stop and look how your horse is moving and where they are placing themselves?

And just like that my name has changed 😬

Its been a journey to get here, changing your business name is a big step and while everything will stay the same, same me, same services, same support.

My new name now reflects more of what I offer you and your horse, but for 5 years I have traded and built my little business up under my old name and while the update is needed saying goodbye to that name is hard.

Its where I started, its what Ive built on, seeing my name and logo out there for the past 5 years has been so rewarding.
Watching people proudly wear my business and promote me has been something I only dreamed of.

So I am a little sad to say goodbye to it, but also so proud that in 5 years Ive had to update because so much had changed. Ive grown, Ive developed, Ive built and maintained some amazing relationships with clients. To those that have been with me from the beginning thank you, to those that have joined along the way thank you 😘.
I could not do this without you.

So here's to another great 5 years now as Lisa Loveridge 360° Horse and Rider Performance 🥂

Perfect, ideals, correct, how it should be.......

When we talk about how the horse should go, stand, move is this how we believe things should be for our horse's or do we look for what is truly right for that horse at that point in time 🤔

The more I do this job the more horses I see, the more I observe them, work with them feel their bodies the more my beliefs have shifted.
And while my main goal with every session is to increase that horses comfort level, my ideas of 'correctness' have shifted. I am and will always be a perfectionist I dont like doing things by half measures but healing cannot be forced it takes time.

Many horses have found ways of going, postures and movement patterns that allow them to cope and be comfortable they have developed that way for a reason. To remove these in one fell swoop would take away that comfort and do more harm than good.

Forcing posture, movements, and certain shapes will only compound compensation patterns and drive the tension/ restrictions deeper.

To unravel these we first need to understand why they have adopted these patterns.
The body has an amazing ability to reorganise itself, sometimes these changes can be subtle with a simple release and letting go of tension other times it can be a visible shift and an instant change in posture.

Taking the time to observe and listen to our horses is the greatest gift we can give them.
Change takes time, it cannot be forced into a certain timeline. We cant make a horse 'correct' if their body isn't ready for it.

This week had me back at for my monthly rider alignment clinic.
Most of these riders have been with me for a while now and we are working on very subtle changes within their positions.

Mix of horses and riders, from dressage and showing, from endurance to eventing. I love being part of their journeys, helping to ironing out bad habits, work on weaknesses and asymmetry and the all important part helping their horses move better.

We cant work on strength and straightness with our horses if the rider is wonky 😉 its a partnership.

Back to work today for me after a lovely bank holiday weekend.

I set out with all good intentions of taking a pic at each appointment today, whoch comprised of 3 horses, 1 Rider alignment sessions and 2 Rider massages.

But things didnt go as planned and I got caught up doing what I do and managed to take the grand total of 1 photo 😆.

So enjoy a photo of the lovely Tillys bum all KT taped up to help decompress and support around the SI region.

I will endeavour to do better tomorrow so I can showcase all my lovely clients that I get to work with on a daily basis 😊

Equine Bio- security, not something you normally associate with your bodyworker.

But it is something thats super important, I can see between 5 to 8 horses a day some on the same yard but many in differnt settings.

With the ever increasing rise of infections such as strangles and equine flu its important for me to keep your horses as safe as possible.

Many of you are used to seeing me in overalls and the main reason for this is I can change them between yard setting ensuring a fresh clean set when I move yards but also I can give myself a quick spray down with disinfectant.

All my equipment, box and boots gets disinfected between yard visits.
Using Equine Bio-genie not only ensures your horses safety against disease and infections its also super safe if they get hold of any equipment.
We all know how many of them love to grab my fascial edge tool or give my tools box a good once over.

Spraying everything down with Equine Bio-genie ensures my equipment is clean and safe before moving on.

Its just one of the small ways I keep your horses health at the forefront of my sessions.
